Description
We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be part of a rotational program supporting the Material Resource Division (MRD). The rotation will include 18 months in each of the following MRD locations (in no particular order): Cordova, IL, Cottage Grove, MN and Decatur, AL. The Materials Resource Division is 3M''s internal resource for global manufacturing of specialty materials and also has international sites in both Antwerp, Belgium and Jinshan, China.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
* Providing work instruction for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible production of materials
* Effectively introducing new materials to plant-scale production
* Developing product and process understanding
* Implementing manufacturing improvements; and provide technical leadership for troubleshooting manufacturing problems.
Qualified candidates will be interested in fostering and cultivating an extensive network of support (laboratory, quality, financial, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments. Provide appropriate and timely documentation of work. The ideal candidate will have very good skills in multi tasking as well as being very diligent.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* Currently in the last year of pursuing or already possess a Bachelor''s degree in Chemical Engineering
* 3.0 GPA (cumulative) on a 4.0 scale
Preferred Qualifications:
* Completed internship/co-op or Technical Aide position with 3M
* Completed internship/co-op with another chemical manufacturing company
* Experience or training in lean manufacturing and six sigma improvement processes
* Understanding of statistical methods of analysis
* Familiarity and ability to use MicroSoft basic computer tools to process and analyze data
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Have problem-solving experience and skills
* Good people skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
* Good work habits - timely, thorough, and dependable
* Flexible to provide support for round-the-clock manufacturing operations as needed
* Core values in safe, health-conscious, environmentally-responsible, and regulatory compliant manufacturing
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
