Description

Overview of the position:

This position will be an integral part of the Enterprise Capital Planning - Capital Modeling and Analysis team.  Responsibilities will include: developing and implementing quantitative capital models, reviewing capital projections, and analyzing the current and future stat, GAAP, and rating agency impacts of potential capital management strategies and business initiatives. This position will report to the VP of Capital Modeling & Analysis.

In addition to modeling, quantifying, and analyzing stat, GAAP, and rating agency capital impacts, the candidate will partner with business segments and functional areas (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Tax, Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management) and review and recommend capital modeling approaches and analysis.

Responsibilities:

* Review stat, GAAP, and rating agency projections and the capital models used by Capital Planning & Analysis and the lines of business.
* Quantify the capital impact of proposed strategies and initiatives.  Analyze potential alternatives.
* Maintain Capital Planning & Analysis models.  Recommend modeling enhancements and/or new modeling approaches and processes.  Lead / participate in development efforts including the definition of requirements and specifications, design, coding, testing, and production implementation. Influence and challenge lines of business.
* Research emerging capital issues (e.g., stat principles-based approaches, Solvency II, IFRS) and become a subject matter expert.  Build models that illustrate and estimate potential impacts.
* Build and maintain relationships with the business segments and functional areas in order to stay abreast of initiatives and changes that may have capital implications.

Qualifications

* 10+ years of finance, actuarial, or insurance experience
* Bachelor''s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics or a related field
* Experience with stat accounting and capital requirements, GAAP accounting, and/or rating agency models
* Experience with insurance liabilities and risk management strategies
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
* Ability to synthesize and apply complex actuarial, accounting, investment/finance, and technical concepts
* Ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with individuals of all levels of the department and Enterprise
* Ability to work/think independently and influence others inside and outside the team
* Ability to communicate and collaborate well with others, exhibiting exceptional team player skills
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively across different businesses and functional areas with an objective approach, driving toward a common goal
* Self-directed learner
* Ability to navigate through a matrixed environment
* Strong result oriented skills and  influencing skills
* CFA or actuarial designations (ASA/FSA, ACAS/FCAS) preferred
