Description JOB FUNCTION:
Makes and services a wide variety of business loans, both secured and unsecured, many of which involve large amounts of money and/or key customers. Provides subordinate officers with functional guidance.
Anyone who takes a residential mortgage loan application or offers or negotiates terms of a residential mortgage loan for compensation or gain must register with the National Mortgage Loan system as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO). To be registered, the MLO must pass a background check. Failure to comply with registration and annual registration or not pass a criminal background check administered by NMLS will result in termination.
LOAN AUTHORITY:
Average loan authority. Large portfolio. Complex credits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Provides banking services to current and potential customers seeking loans that may involve secured and/or unsecured funds.
? Interviews applicants to develop information concerning their business, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk.
? Guides the credit department or junior officers in the development and analysis of financial background data for new or renewed loans.
? Obtains all necessary financial data. Analyzes and evaluates financial statements, cash flows, statements of condition and related credit information to determine the creditworthiness of customers.
? Makes decisions on loans and terms of loan within loan authority limits or makes recommendations to a superior.
? Reviews current loans to ensure loans are current and conform to terms, and monitors loans to identify developing trends which may adversely affect loan arrangements.
? Gives financial advice and counsel to customers and prospective customers.
? Studies industrial, commercial, and financial situations relating to new or existing businesses.
? Participates with senior officers on larger loans and lines, and keeps informed as to the status of loans in the department.
? Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase or retain existing business. Introduces customers to other departments if a service can be rendered.
? Represents the bank in civic, community and industry activities as required.
? Keeps informed of current economic conditions and legislation which may affect customer relationships and the Commercial Lending Department.
? Performs other related job duties and special projects as assigned.
? Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the bank Secrecy Act.
? Incumbent is responsible for organizational integrity and business ethics as it relates to this position, and communicating this commitment to any applicable subordinates.
? Incumbent may have access to cash, customer accounts and/or sensitive and confidential information.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
? College degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience. A degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
? Formal credit training.
? Over 5 years of commercial lending experience including management of a commercial loan portfolio.
? Over 5 years of business development experience.
? Experience working with a variety of commercial loan accounts. Experience working with senior lenders on complex accounts is preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
? Excellent knowledge of commercial lending and retail services, documentation, underwriting and regulatory guidelines.
? Excellent knowledge of banking office lending functions.
? Excellent knowledge of the loan application and loan approval process.
? Knowledge of financial ratios and business principles.
? Understanding of regulatory guidelines.
? Working knowledge of credit analysis and lending functions.
? Working knowledge of all bank products and services.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
? Ability to read and interpret loan documents, credit data and personal data to perform the essential job functions.
? Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
? Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an undue hardship then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
