Applied Materials'' Corporate Business Development team is looking for an experienced professional for the position of Synergy Management Office - Senior Financial Analyst.  Reporting to the Director of Corporate Business Development Finance, this role will have primary responsibility for the identification and quantification of synergies associated with M&A projects, and the subsequent measurement, tracking, and reporting of synergies to Applied''s Senior Finance Management team.  Our ideal candidate is a top performer who can develop solutions to complex problems, is able to manage multiple projects on a real-time basis, and has a demonstrated ability to identify and resolve operational and integration challenges.  Experience working in a matrix organization a plus and strong customer relationship skills required.

This role provides great exposure to understand our company''s business models and finance and accounting processes throughout the entire M&A lifecycle.

Responsibilities

* Recommend, investigate, design and implement new procedures for  objectively analyzing and capturing synergy opportunities for past, present, and  future Mergers & Acquisitions
* Prepare complex spreadsheets to analyze and develop business cases and top-down synergy estimates
* Understand,  and quantify synergy drivers identified during the diligence process to enable post acquisition economic performance tracking
* Advise, track, and report on synergy realization across all in-flight acquisitions
* Determine baseline for value drivers
* Proactively provide decision support to Corporate Business Development Finance leadership team.
* Support  cross-functional and regional work group efforts to define synergy capture projects
* Develop cross-functional synergy tracking framework
* Support efforts to develop risk mitigation plans for synergy realization
* Support  efforts to develop governance process for deciding how to manage and approve changes to synergy plan
* Support efforts to develop metrics, scorecards, and review process to monitor synergy performance
* Establish methods to capture and apply learnings on future deals
* Support and maintain Integration framework for M&A activities that enables continuous improvement and refinement of the finance integration playbook

Job Specific Knowledge

* Specific experience in development and implementation of synergy capture processes
* Advanced knowledge of analytical systems and processes (both internal and external applications)
* Analysis, interpretation, and preparation of monthly divisional financial synergy forecasts/actuals
* Develops reports as required
* Supports M&A Finance Director with ongoing and miscellaneous M&A integration related activities

Education

* Minimum BS in Accounting/Finance, post-graduate degree preferred (MBA, etc.)
* 7+ years of increasing financial analyst responsibilities
* Post-merger integration, operational, consulting or corporate development experience in the technology industry
* Experience in semiconductor industry preferred
* Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability
* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
* Proven track record of working with cross-functional business leaders to achieve difficult objectives
* Solid team player
