S. Some businesses do not offer all benefits shown. br/ Responsibilities: br/ br/ Manage the brokers to ensure timely Customs clearance in accordance with SHMC standards. br/ Resolve Customs notices to ensure SHMC imports comply with Customs and other Federal agency regulations. br/ Monitor quota levels in order to identify shipments subject to potential embargo situations in advance. br/ Main point of contact for the brokers concerning issues preventing customs clearance to ensure timely movement of direct imports to the domestic channels of distribution. br/ Communicate with internal customers ensuring that impacted parties (Finance, Logistics Team, Sourcing, Buying Dept., Inventory and SHGS) are notified of shipment delays. br/ Use Customs knowledge to expedite the resolution of problems. br/ Ensure the classification and value reported to U.S. Customs is accurate and complete. br/ Evaluate the relationships between SHMC, agents, and manufacturers based on U.S. Customs criteria and rulings to determine the roles and dutiability status of these parties. br/ Monitor broker performance to assure entries are filed timely with U.S. Customs, in compliance with Customs law and regulations, and as classified/valued at SHMC direction. br/ Provide training and education to the team on U.S. Customs rulings, trade preference programs, and any changes to current laws. br/ Identify and evaluate system opportunities to automate manual processes and drive changes. br/ Identify opportunities to reduce cost and increase efficiency, and develop plans to implement improvements. br/ Manage cross-functional projects. br/ Interface with Inventory, Buyers, Sourcing, Inventory, Overseas Offices, Logistics, Distribution Center Operations. Apply a sense of urgency to questions, requests for information, and resolving problems. Escalate to management as necessary. br/ Plan and execute import business strategies that support SHMC initiatives. br/ Continue to build a strong partnership with U.S. Customs. br/ Strengthen knowledge of international business environment. br/ Enhance skills for motivating and influencing others. br/ Develop negotiation skills to obtain an improved position for SHMC with brokers. br/ Expand knowledge of import business as well as SHMC infrastructure and job functionality. br/ br/ br/ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required to perform essential functions: br/ br/ Licensed U.S. Customs Broker-preferred br/ In-depth knowledge of Customs rules and regulations. Broad knowledge of other government agencies requirements and the ability to apply laws to SHMC import product. br/ Strong relationships with personnel from both U.S. Customs and other government agencies. br/ Knowledge of the import process and how it relates to the SHMC businesses. br/ Strong organizational, multitasking and project management skills. br/ Knowledge and understanding of the Customs entry process with the ability to react with a sense of urgency to broker inquiries. br/ Understanding of the import transportation modes and cost elements. br/ Strong ability to analyze, gather and interpret information and data. br/ Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills to effectively communicate with associates at all levels in the organization, including international buying offices. br/ Effective leadership skills to manage, coach and develop the classification team members. br/ Ability to identify and aggressively address problems and demonstrate flexibility in thinking. br/ Ability to deal courteously and professionally with others in difficult situations. br/ Systems competency in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook. br/ Self directed and demonstrates initiative to take action. br/ Ability to create open and shared communications with management and the classification team. br/ Extensive data management and reporting skills.
