Description
Applied Materials is seeking a motivated, creative individual who is interested in project management and a better understanding of corporate social responsibility. The position is part-time with pay related to experience level. Qualified candidates must be proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Dreamweaver.
Responsibilities
* Serve as project manager for parts of events during the Food Drive, Turkey Trot and Employee Giving Campaign
* Assist in setting up and managing volunteer activities and events
* Assist with administrative projects for Community Affairs activities and events
* Assist in communicating Community Affairs activities via site-wide emails, promotional materials, and bulletin boards
* Prepare PowerPoint presentations
* Input and analyze program data in Excel
* Update intranet using Dreamweaver
Goals/Learning Objectives
* Provide hands-on experience in an area of interest
* Understand the private sector''s role in corporate social responsibility at the local and global level
* Enhance scope and range of project management skills
* Create a portfolio of sample writing and communication products
* Gain knowledge about Applied Materials and the semiconductor industry
Supervision
The intern will participate in mandatory training to review Applied Materials safety and operating procedures, as well as learn about the company and its products.
Once a week, he/she will have an individual meeting with the Community Affairs Manager to review project status. He/she will attend weekly staff meetings and will provide project updates to the team. In addition, he/she will work closely with staff members on various projects and will receive individual instruction and supervision as projects are assigned. At the conclusion of the internship, he/she will receive a performance review by the Manager.

The requirements are:
* Strong communication skills - verbal and written
* Experience in project management with little direction required (planning and execution)
* Strong organization skills with attention to details
* Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Dreamweaver
* Ability to multi-task and take initiative
* Creativity
The preferred list includes:
* Experience in event planning and fundraising
* Nonprofit experience
* Leadership skills
Required Experience
Student must be pursuing a valid degree program in which he/she will graduate with a degree appropriate and useful for work within Applied Materials Community Affairs (i.e., from the Schools of Communication or Corporate Responsibility).
All college interns/co-ops, must maintain enrollment in a degree-seeking program and be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Transcripts will be required to confirm eligibility. Hours worked per week and duration of internship are negotiable.
Education
* Student must be pursuing a valid degree program in which he/she will graduate with a degree appropriate and useful for work within Applied Materials.

Junior or Senior currently seeking a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Corporate Responsibility
* All college interns/co-ops, must maintain enrollment in a degree-seeking program and be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
* Transcripts will be required periodically to confirm eligibility.
* Previous summer work helpful.
