Description
Reporting to the Chief Tax Officer, the International Tax Counsel will advise on global tax planning issues and will assist the corporate tax department generally on critical tax planning initiatives. The successful individual will advise ITT management in international tax planning ideas which affect ITTs effective tax rate and will provide tax counsel support for tax audits, tax accounting, and tax compliance.
A) List the essential functions and major activities in order of their importance.
Majority of time will be devoted to U.S. International and Local Foreign taxes. Role will involve tax planning and support for tax accounting, audits and compliance.
Develop creative tax planning initiatives and help to resolve key tax issues which affect ITTs effective tax rate.
Advise ITT management on the tax aspects of acquisitions and divestitures outside the U.S, including the optimum structure for such transactions in order to minimize taxes.
Ensure the businesses maintain up-to-date tax expertise and awareness of foreign jurisdiction laws and their impact.
Manage the international tax function on all global tax issues including financing structures, transfer pricing and cross-border issues.
Represent ITTs interests in tax controversies in foreign jurisdictions.
Lead or participate in various other projects as designated.
Maintain strong relationship with business units. Interface with outside tax consultants (public accounting and legal tax counsel) and other professional associates in the exchange of tax information.
Lead or participate in various other projects as designated. Required Experience: 10+ years of international tax experience.
Juris Doctor degree required; LL.M. preferred.
Heavy U.S. international tax background with preferred experience in cross-border and local country structuring and transactions; FTC and Subpart F planning; M&A; transfer pricing, NOL tax planning; tax related financing.
Experience with income tax reporting standards, including FAS 109, FAS 141, FAS 123R, IAS 12, FIN 48, and FAS 123R, among others.
Experience in a complex, global environment.
Undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent preferred.
