Description
Position Summary:
Applies principles of general accounting in analyzing financial information and prepares financial reports as required. Analyzes and interprets financial results of operations to aid in the closing, planning and internal controls of the Lancaster Operations.
Job Duties:
- Prepares, inputs and posts general ledger entries.
- Coordinates entries at month-end as part of the closing of the Lancaster & Valves Admin General Ledger.
- Prepares inter-company debit and credit advises to effect back charges to other ITT locations.
- Verifies month-end inter-company balances with other ITT units.
- Distributes monthly departmental expense reports and maintains accounting department copies in central location.
- Analyzes balance sheet accounts. Prepares monthly account reconciliations as assigned and maintains copies of account recs in monthly account reconciliation folder. Resolves all reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Prepare W9 forms as requested.
- Maintains files related to and tracks Pure-Flo, Skotch, and International Agents Commissions.
- Imports salaried and hourly payroll files from Infinium, calculates applicable fringe benefits, and impacts the General Ledger with the expenses. Reviews monthly statements from Fort Wayne Shared Services and resolves discrepancies. Also works with IT personnel to maintain income and deduction codes.
- Maintains desktop procedures in the ISO procedures database. Revises existing procedures and adds or deletes procedures as necessary.
- Performs other miscellaneous Accounting duties. Required Experience: Education:
Bachelor''s degree (B. A./B. S.) from four-year college or university; and three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Experience must include a specialized knowledge of accounting preferably in the general & cost accounting area.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to define problems, college data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. - Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Advanced computer skills are required particularly in the use of personal computer spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Knowledge of BPCS software or other integrated software packages would be beneficial.
