Altria Group is the parent company of Philip Morris USA, the largest cigarette manufacturer in the United States, as well as U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company and John Middleton  recently acquired companies that offer leading brands in the growing moist smokeless tobacco and machine-made cigar categories.  Altria Group Distribution Companys role is to strengthen relationships with the trade to best offer Altrias tobacco companies brands in retail stores. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Supply Chain or Business Management Undergraduate Intern to join our Customer Service&Merchandising department in Richmond, VA.  Our comprehensive 10-12 week undergraduate summer intern program provides students the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training, access to mentors, planned social events, and educational opportunities.  Students may be given the opportunity to work as a part of a cross functional project team and are expected to use project management skills to execute multiple project tasks simultaneously. Students will document project work in a formal report and/or presentation at the conclusion of each term.  As an undergraduate Customer Service&Merchandising intern with Altria Group Distribution Company, the student will be assigned a process improvement challenge with the responsibility of identifying an improvement opportunity, analyzing possible alternatives and recommending the best solution. Some potential areas of assignment are in Business Process Management, Logistics Management, Inventory Management, or Customer Management Departments of Customer Service&Merchandising.   Projects may include:    assisting with physical distribution network analysis    executing product deployment roles     reverse logistics     performing warehouse studies for efficiencies    supporting electronic commerce initiatives  In addition to the project, interns will be assigned daily work tasks in one of the following departments: Inventory Management, Transportation, Warehousing, Vendor Managed Inventory, Forecasting, or Customer Service.To qualify for the undergraduate summer intern program, the student must be in good academic standing at his/her university and enrolled as a rising senior in a relevant undergraduate degree program at the time of the Internship. Specifically, we are looking for college students working towards a degree in Supply Chain or Business Management, Logistics, Operations Research, or MIS/E-Commerce.  Work experience related to academic discipline is preferred. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred. We are looking for students who possess strong strategic, analytical and creative thinking skills, written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrate leadership and initiative. The incumbents must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products and possess strong oral and written communication skills.  Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment.  Pay for an intern position is commensurate based on the students academic level in school and experience.  A Housing Allowance is available for students who qualify.  Please note that we do not retain resumes submitted outside of our application process and in order to qualify for our Internships or Co-op assignments, you must be eligible to work full time within the United States without sponsorship.Altria Group Distribution Co is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or other legally protected characteristic.
