Senior level investment professional within Investment Management''s Research and Analysis (R&A) team will be a key contributor to the research and due diligence efforts across Lincoln''s manager-of-managers program. The R&A team provide investment expertise and insight regarding the selection, oversight and placement of asset management solutions across Lincoln''s various product lines (VA, VUL, DC, COLI/BOLI). This role will be a senior member of the R&A team responsible for leading constant improvement in the overall governance of Lincoln''s asset management business, contributing to the manager selection and evaluation process, and providing investment expertise to the LVIP Board of Trustees, internal product/investment committees and Lincoln''s clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide leadership to the research and analysis process on new and existing investment options offered in Lincoln''s variable life, variable annuity and retirement products
* Conduct regular on-site due diligence visits with investment managers in the selection and ongoing evaluation process to ensure products are managed in accordance with investment policies
* As a senior member of Investment Management, responsible for providing thought leadership, investment expertise and supporting the ongoing development of the Investment Management team
* Assist with overall risk management across Investment Management''s business, including analyzing fund attribution and factor exposures, derivatives exposures and risks, potential impacts to Lincoln''s variable annuity hedge program, product pricing impacts, etc.
* Provide insight and expertise to contribute to Lincoln''s asset allocation initiatives
* Contribute to the screening and ongoing evaluation process for new and existing investment options
* Regularly report analysis and findings (written and verbal) on the status of existing investment management relationships and recommend potential investment strategies and investment managers to internal constituents and/or management committees
* Ability/willingness to conduct in-depth investment reviews directly with senior/executive level representatives of Lincoln''s clients (plan sponsors, consultants, distributors, advisors, etc.) on an ongoing basis
* Conduct regular analysis and review of product investment platforms and make recommendations for change/improvement as needed
* Recommend changes and/or actions as appropriate to further the strategic objectives of the Investment Management group and Lincoln''s product lines
* Provide competitive intelligence, analysis and comparisons on an ongoing basis
* Ability to manage relationships with senior level representatives of investment managers, external consultants, asset allocation providers and research firms
* Contribute to the Fair Valuation Committee of Lincoln Investment Advisory Corp as needed
* Serve as member of the Investment Committee, Derivatives Committee and Asset Allocation Committee of Lincoln Investment Advisory Corp.
* Take a lead role supporting sales efforts and training for investment products through regular interaction with distribution
* Stay abreast of evolving industry trends to ensure Lincoln''s product offerings remain competitive
Technical/Professional Knowledge:
* Demonstrated skills in portfolio construction, asset allocation, modern portfolio theory, risk management, derivatives and hedging
* Expertise in fund industry research and analytical tools required (e.g. Morningstar, Lipper, Zephyr, eVestmentAlliance, or other similar tools)
* Understanding of attribution and risk management concepts and experience with leading measurement tools (Factset, Barra, or other similar tools)
* Investment and Insurance industry knowledge
* Recognized by peers and investment partners in the industry
* Experience working with Investment Boards of Trustees
* 1940 Act Fund experience
Required job knowledge and skills:
* Knowledge in portfolio analysis qualitative and quantitative expertise
* Background in life, annuity and retirement products
* Knowledge of Investment Advisor / manager-of-manager functions e.g. due diligence best practices, risk management, 40 Act, sub-advised fund structures and other investment structures/regulations
* Experience directly with Investment Management Firms and an in-depth understanding of the various roles
* Ability to effectively use research/analytic tools for analysis, selection and evaluation of investment options
* Ability to communicate investment concepts to a variety of audiences, including comfort presenting to large audiences
* Ability to evaluate options and implement investment decisions/changes
Job Requirements
Education and Qualifications
* Minimum of 8 yrs experience in financial services with a primary background in investment analysis, evaluation and/or investment management
Licensing and/or certification requirements, including education:
* Undergraduate degree required; Advanced Degree and/or CFA (or similar designation) strongly preferred; FINRA registration preferred
