Are you a public relations specialist with expertise in media relations, creative thinking and messaging looking to join an innovative, world-class news and information organization? The Dow Jones Corporate Communications department is seeking a public relations specialist with solid media relations experience serving B2B clients/organizations. At Dow Jones, our news and databases inform the discussions and decisions that are vital to the world''s business.
The public relations specialist will provide public relations support for Dow Jones Corporate Markets and Dow Jones Financial Markets business units, which serve enterprises. Key products include Factiva, DJ FX Trader, VentureSource and solutions for compliance, communications and trading professionals. The public relations specialist will own several major projects and program initiatives to raise the visibility of Dow Jones products and services and position them as innovative solutions for enterprises. The public relations specialist will also work with colleagues in EMEA and Asia to develop a strategy to raise awareness of these businesses worldwide.
Additionally, the public relations specialist will develop and implement several high-level global PR campaigns that focus on strengthening the business unit''s position as a thought leader in corporate and financial services markets. The public relations specialist will work to promote the Groups'' executives, particularly the units'' presidents, as thought leaders in their market. This includes securing media coverage in the major business press and speaking opportunities at industry events. A critical activity will be establishing ongoing relationships with targeted journalists and editors at key publications.
This role can be based in Princeton, NJ or New York, NY
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Design and execute the communications strategy for global PR campaigns, including developing positioning and messaging statements.
Pitch the press to secure media coverage and interviews of Dow Jones Corporate Markets and Financial Markets in top-tier business and vertical publications.
Write and edit corporate press releases, articles, speeches, presentations, media kit materials, issue briefs, and other communications materials.
Secure speaking engagements for experts at key regional events.
Collaborate with internal PR teams in execution of the activities related to global PR campaigns.
Direct external agency team (as needed) in execution of the activities related to global PR campaigns.
Support the two Group presidents for all relevant media events in the US.
Collaborate with marketing to further build out the social media programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
3-5 years B2B experience necessary
Demonstrated PR/ journalistic experience
Proven writing skills
Strong communicator and self-starter
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
Computer and technology fluency
Must be able to take initiative, chase, follow-up and drive actions in order to meet challenging deadlines.
Experience working with top-level executives, internally and externally
Strategic thinker. Able to contribute their own ideas while working in a team environment.
Experience in financial industry a plus
