General Summary

The Department Lead  Retail/Key Carrier will perform all the necessary duties to accurately, efficiently, and professionally manage his/her assigned area of responsibility. The Department Lead  Retail/Key Carrier will manage his/her department and ensure that everything possible is done to meet customer, associate and business needs.  The Department Lead  Retail/Key Carrier personally demonstrates and clearly communicates performance and customer service standards and expectations to all associates and evaluates the execution of that performance.  The Department Lead  Retail/Key Carrier acts as a leader in the store and is a critical member of the store leadership team.  

Job Responsibilities:

Drive Profitable Growth

Responsible for assigned sales area in the store. Ensure profitability of the department by:
Proactively lead the department to ensure achievement of business goals in revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction, and associate morale.
Actively manage the customer experience in the department ensuring total customer satisfaction.
Drive revenue growth by using Solution Selling, the 5-As and customer services skills.

Maximize Sales by:
Execution of Promotional Plan to include all signage, bulk stacks, and end caps.
Participate in planning meetings.
Ensure merchandise presentation is according to company guidelines. Use plan-o-grams and monthly planning to set displays. Work in new merchandise into the existing plan-o-grams where appropriate.
Maintain merchandise presentation, signage, and housekeeping. Keep display items in showroom condition.
Follow all inventory protection guidelines and procedures.

Customer Centric Focus
Responsible for the level of customer service provided in your department/store.
Set the example by providing legendary customer service by words and actions.
Spend the majority of time assisting customer and directing other associates covering the department.
Ensure sales associates follow the 5-As of Solution Selling.
Maintain knowledge of products for self and others: provide appropriate matching of features and benefits to match to customer needs.
Handling of customer issues after the sale.

Improve Productivity
Maintain operational integrity of your department. Turn in all paperwork to the office on time.
Maintain proper in-stock position while reducing unproductive inventory. Manage deleted, defective, damaged and clearance section, controlling markdowns and expenses.
Control shrink/loss and protection of all company assets.
Prepare the store for physical inventory.

Develop a Diverse, high Performance Team
Participate in the selection process, performance reviews, coaching and corrective action of your associates, in partnership with the store management.
Supervise and train associates in your department and create daily work assignments. Inform associates of any changes in company policies and procedures with the company.
Conduct ongoing product and project knowledge training.

Maintain a clean, safe, inviting, pleasant environment for our customers and associates.
Maintain a safe work area; participate in safety committee meetings; conduct ongoing safety training
Follow workplace safety policies and procedures and notify managers of safety concerns/violations
Follow procedures in accident investigation, documentation, and prevention
Follow procedures for all company safety programs

Open and Close the Store (as required on a limited basis)
Responsible for store keys and alarm codes but does NOT respond to alarms calls.
Supervises morning or evening crews while maintaining company standards regarding customer service, safety, and security of store property.
Follows all store opening and closing operational procedures and procedures for protecting company assets (human, financial, product, physical plant, and proprietary), ensuring building is locked and alarms set prior to leaving or entering.

Education   
High school diploma or equivalent.  AA degree a plus.

Experience   
1-3 years of general retail experience or equivalent experience
Previous retail experience as a department lead preferred
Previous experience leading/managing others preferred

Skills   
Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, listening
Ability to supervise and oversee a team
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
Requires knowledge of the organization, products, and/or services
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
