Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION Participates in Ingenix ICD-10 consulting engagements with primary role being as an ICD-10 SME (Subject Matter Expert).
Also maintains responsibility for activities related to remote and on-site hospital ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding review. Assists with providing input to final client reports based on review findings; provides educational and training activities to clients and others.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Performs work as needed on ICD-10 consulting engagements that may include assessments of current environment, identification of areas impacted by ICD-10 and development and implementation support for ICD-10 preparations and post implementation activities. Much of this work is conducted at client sites.
2. Conducts ICD-10 education and training programs for both payer and provider clients
3. Travels to payer, provider and other sites as required to performs ICD-9-CM inpatient and/or CPT/HCPCS outpatient coding reviews.
2. Coordinates coding and process findings with other members of the consulting team to facilitate a facility-wide understanding of client issues.
3. Organizes and presents preliminary findings to Ingenix project maanger at the conclusion of the on-site visit.
4. Organizes and presents specific coding issues to coding staff at the conclusion of the on-site visit for education and discussion purposes. Resolves any outstanding issues related to findings.
5. Delivers coding-related findings in a presentation to ensure client understanding and satisfaction.
6. Responds to client inquiries concerning audits, specific findings and recommendations.
7. Provides feedback to consulting management team to enhance and improve consulting products.
8. Provides client support related to Ingenix encoder software as necessary.
9. Provides PPS Services leadership with support/feedback related to software issues (client concerns, specific coding issues, etc.)
10. Provides support to customer base when required. This task typically involves answering client ICD-10, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS coding questions. Works with clients via telephone, fax or e-mail with timely written response to written inquiries.
11. Identifies HIM product enhancements, problems, etc. for each release; assists with product enhancements when not involved with consulting engagements. Communicates with other Ingenix staff to resolve issues.
12. Initiate and/or participate in existing and new client sales opportunities as required.
13. Completes time reports and expense reports in an appropriate and timely manner.
14. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Acceptable applicants are credentialed through AHIMA with any of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS. Candidate must be AHIMA ICD-10 Certified

EXPERIENCE AHIMA ICD-10 Certification
Bachelor''s Degree Required
Comprehensive understanding of ICD-9-CM and HCPCS coding, along with corresponding DRG and APC reimbursement methodologies. In addition, knowledge of appropriate HIM coding processes and procedures is required.
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or CPC credentials with three to five years of hands-on acute care, inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience is required. Past consulting and data analysis experience is desirable.
Practical knowledge of one or more encoder products is desirable.
Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office tools, such as Excel, Word and Power Point, in addition to basic computer and keyboarding skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, technical specifications, client requirements and memoranda and procedure documentation manuals routinely available from regulatory agencies.
Ability to write clearly and concisely for both internal and external uses and to present complex, technical information in a manner that makes such information accessible even to individuals who are not well-versed in the subject.
Ability to speak effectively and to represent Ingenix at all levels of client organizations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to determine and understand client requirements and project priorities based on fragmentary information or when stated client expectations and requirements are inconsistent or poorly defined. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to perform tasks in a logical, organized manner and sequence. Detail oriented. Ability to juggle and manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities. The travel requirement necessitates the ability to handle high-stress situations, apply map-reading skills and the ability to function away from home with an ever-changing schedule.

Because much of the work involved in this position requires that the incumbent be physically present at client locations, the incumbent must be capable of traveling throughout the United States by all forms of public transportation and to remain on-site for five (5) consecutive days.
