Description

Responsibilities:

This position is primarily responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial results to the Group and external credit agencies, and understanding changes to the financial position of the company. This position also has an important role in ensuring a properly controlled accounting department, as the candidate will be responsible for Status of Accounts reviews and reporting results to management. This role will interact with upper management and must be able to effectively communicate.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to:)

* Apply detailed knowledge of USGenerally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)balance sheet, cash flow and equity statements for trading operations in North America
* Lead a team of other accountants and be able to advise them on accounting policies dealing with financial reporting, reporting and related issues
* Annual statutory reporting, including review of financial statements and disclosures under US GAAP
* Review of quarterly Group (GARANCE) reporting and analysis under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), inclusive of providing information for disclosure purposes
* Assist in the coordination of quarterly affiliate and intra-group balancing
* Review and approve reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts related to status of accounts reporting to upper management
* Coordinate and present results of status of account reporting on a quarterly basis to management
* Work closely with external auditors for our trading operations in North America to ensure accurate and timely reporting of annual reports and quarterly sign-off of returns and SOX controls
* Review and approve monthly manual journal entries in accordance with MJE policy
* Review and approve monthly foreign currency revaluation of Canadian account balances produced via SAP program to ensure reasonableness of calculation and inclusion of relevant general ledger accounts. Coordination, monitoring and issue resolution during monthly close activities
* Various special projects upon requests

Requirements:

* Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a creditable University, Masters degree preferred
* Experience working with individuals in management communicating monthly compilations and analysis
* Demonstrated experience motivating, leading and coaching an accounting team
* Demonstrated ability to manage through others and provide development opportunities
* Strong accounting experience applying policies, standards
* Excellent knowledge of local statutory accounting and reporting
* Thorough understanding of financial accounting and internal control frameworks (including the financial assurance process)
* Thorough understanding of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards as well as SEC disclosure reporting requirements
* Extensive knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC reporting & Disclosures requirements
* Must have excellent demonstrated oral and written communication skills
* Experience working with PC based skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and SAP experience preferred
* A Licensed CPA preferred
