Our two regulated business units are Detroit Edison, an electric utility serving much of Michigan, and MichCon, a gas utility. ASSOCIATE / SR. ASSOCIATE DESCRIPTION
DTE Energy is seeking ambitious, energetic individuals to join the Strategy & Corporate Development group in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group is comprised of former consultants from top-tier strategy firms, investment bankers, finance professionals, and recent MBA graduates.
The Strategy & Corporate Development group works with all of DTEs businesses to address the complex challenges facing the energy industry today. Associates play a critical role within multi-disciplinary teams engaged in strategic initiatives. Specific responsibilities could include: identifying, screening and evaluating acquisition targets; working with senior executives to understand industry trends and define DTEs strategy; assessing investment opportunities in the clean energy space; analyzing the value and the risks of major capital investments; assessing the impact of changes in the global natural gas market; identifying new business opportunities to grow our non-regulated portfolio. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidates should possess a MBA from a top-tier program and 2-3 years of post MBA experience, with an emphasis on finance and/or strategy, (a technical undergraduate degree is a plus), and a minimum of 2 years work experience with a management consulting firm, investment bank, or in a finance/strategic planning role is required to provide the following:
* Strong quantitative and modeling skills, the ability to understand and analyze complex business issues, and the ability to communicate results to senior management in a clear and logical manner.
* Combination of analytical aptitude and understanding of strategic business issues.
* Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
* Personal characteristics should include a high level of integrity, confidence, strong initiative taking, the ability to get agreement/buy-in, and a team-oriented work ethic.
