The Getting Hired blog featured several articles in 2018 to share insights and advice for our job seekers who were seeking employment with our inclusive employer partners.

We have explored topics ranging from the Social Security's Ticket to Work program to the most effective methods individuals can use to find new job opportunities.

Here’s a roundup of our top job seeker-focused blogs that were published since January 2018. If you’d like to see our roundup from 2017, you can find it here.

#1 Tips: What do I need to do to prepare for an Online Career Fair?

We shared five key tips for job seekers who registered for our career fairs this year to engage with employers to find a job.

Our key takeaways included doing research on participating employers and coming up with questions in advance to make the most of these events. Stay tuned for our 2019 online career fairs, which will be announced early in 2019.

#2 What I need to know about my Social Security Benefits

We partnered with the American Dream Employment Network (ADEN) on several blogs this year to help our job seekers understand how returning to work could impact their social security benefits.

The return to gainful employment, for individuals receiving SSA disability benefits, may be complicated and challenging, so be sure to review this blog for tips if you have questions!

#3 What are the top job searching tips for 2018?

There are many actions job seekers with disabilities can take to maximize their chances of finding employment.

This blog offers several tips for job search success, including engaging with potential employers via social media and using niche job boards.

#4 Do I have a disability?

At Getting Hired, we are often asked by job seekers if they qualify as having a disability because they’d like to leverage our website as a career resource and apply for jobs with our inclusive employer partners.

Due to this frequently asked question, we created a blog that included a list of some disabilities that would qualify someone to be a Getting Hired job seeker.

The list is only meant to be a guide as it doesn’t include all disabilities but we received so much positive feedback from both employers and job seekers that this blog was a helpful resource that it made our top 2018 list.

#5 2018 Best Places to Work for Job Seekers with Disabilities

Every year Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) provide an opportunity for their employer partners to take a Disability Equality Index (DEI) survey to receive an objective score on how their organization is supporting disability inclusion through their policies and practices.

Getting Hired was proud to see 23 of our employer partners receive an 80% or higher on the DEI making them among the top employers for disability inclusion in 2018. Some employers included Comcast, Facebook and Highmark Health. You can see the full list here!
