The Getting Hired team is preparing for our fall diversity and inclusion events supporting both job seekers with disabilities in finding jobs as well as attending networking events with HR professionals.

 

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is hosting its annual Diversity & Inclusion Conference on October 22nd to October 24th at the Hilton Atlanta in Georgia.

1.     They help you understand your customers better - Almost half (49%) of employers surveyed for LinkedIn’s Global Recruiting Trends 2018 said they focus on diversity in their workforce to better represent their customers. 3.     Diverse teams perform better with more creativity – There isn’t a shortage of this point being discussed but statistics and studies continue to prove this point. According to a recent McKinsey study, U.S. public companies with a diverse board have a 95% higher return on equity than those with non-diverse boards.

 

4.     It will decrease your talent shortage – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for job seekers with disabilities was 9.2 percent in 2017 making it a missed opportunity for HR professionals who are not investing in resources to successfully hire this population.

 

5.     Networking – Change is a constant and it’s important for HR professionals to always be learning and networking with peers about best practices within the workforce.
