Main Duties/Responsibilities:

The Cross-Franchise Strategy & Planning team plays a key role driving efficiency, effectiveness and velocity across the commercial franchises within AZ US Oncology (including two strategic Oncology Alliances), cross functional Customer Facing teams (Sales, Medical, Access Strategy, Precision Medicine and Diagnostics) Commercial Operations (Multiple teams), Branded and unbranded Marketing, Compliance, Regulatory and IT among others. A summary description would be that this resource manages the oversight to multiple programs and projects (portfolio management). Although a specific project may be assigned to this resource, in most scenarios (and per capacity available) this resource will not also be managing large commercial projects.

This BPL is an integral member of the Cross-Franchise Strategy & Planning Team and is responsible for maximizing operational effectiveness and integrating commercial efforts across AZ Oncology franchises and both Alliances. This position will report directly into the Cross-Franchise Strategy & Planning team Head and will work in close partnership with other members of the team, peer BPLs in each of the Franchises/functions, Oncology Training Department, Field Input Teams and Commercial IT. This position is based at our Gaithersburg, MD campus, headquarters within our US Oncology and the Oncology Business Unit.

Essential Job Functions:

Cross-Franchise Strategy & Planning
  • Participate as a Leadership team member on the Cross-Franchise Strategy & Planning team serving as a Portfolio Management liaison to ensure all major brand/above brand deliverables meet or exceed expectations.

  • Accountability for the program management of commercial projects across the US Oncology Business with a focus on above-brand capabilities (shared across all/>1 brand or unbranded).
    • Develop and maintain a calendar of key deliverables throughout the year.
    • Shape (via program management constructs) and socialize the current & upcoming portfolio benefits, effort and business impact(s).
    • Manage the near term and 3 year forward looking Commercial capability roadmap
    • Introduce and further develop cross-Oncology franchise capability maturity management


  • Manage the strategic and tactical capability planning processes ensuring that all project teams are connected correctly, projects stay on track and that all tools are well understood and effectively utilized by brand team members.
    • Actively participate as a peer with other BPL on the Oncology Sales Leadership team (OSLT) and Business Strategy Planning (BSP) across Oncology Franchises connecting strategy to objectives and tactics, then engaging the necessary cross functional teams to deliver the above.
    • Gain input from other business leads so that new capabilities and timelines are socialized for selection and impact well ahead of capability launch/release.
    • Manage and influence the programs and projects that are selected and delivered to our Oncology teams through developing governance to ensure optimal selection/agreement on the value, impact and timing of projects/deliverables in alignment to business imperatives.
    • Link and coordinate the successful pull-though of commercial projects to business franchise/brand/above brand imperatives & tactics
    • Lead reoccurring touchpoints with field leadership, project owners, OTD, SFO, IT and others in order to deliver operational effectiveness during large scale growth, opportunity and ambiguity
    • Present quarterly to OLT on the commercial portfolio's program management, achievements, risks etc


Communications and Engagement
  • Develop and manage cross-franchise portfolio management communications per optimal iteration
  • Participate in the creation of capability rollouts at Brand/Franchise meetings/BSPs Insights Days, National Sales Meetings, Innovation Summits, Special Feedback Sessions and other potential channels for optimal uptake of the new capabilities.


People and Culture
  • Inspire, engage and motivate our team with both non-financial and financial methods
  • Shape and manage our "Speak up" culture via your opportunities for engagement and feedback across franchise and functions.


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-7+ years pharmaceutical experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and lead with & without formal authority
  • Very strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) with ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex constructs
  • Organizational savviness, relationship building, and consultative skills that support & foster a collaborative team environment
  • Strong program, project and process management skills
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical commercial business and business operations across functions (Sales, Marketing, Medical, Diagnostics, Managed Markets, Access Services)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex constructs
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Outlook, Excel, Word


Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ Years of Pharmaceutical Commercial Operations experience is preferred.
  • Program Management Experience and certification (PgMP or comparable) is preferred
  • Project Management Certification (PMP or comparable) is preferred
  • Oncology, ImmunoOncology or Specialty Care/Rare Disease experience via launch and/or in-line
