Production Control Clerk, 2nd BCT

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Control Clerk will be responsible for inputting data into the GCSS-Army operating system accurately and in a timely manner. Inputs and tracks man hours for a team or section. Receives, picks-up, stores, inventories and distributes materials required for the maintenance of equipment; they are capable of moving and loading or unloading equipment, materials, and products; operating or tending equipment used to transfer material; driving forklifts and related material-handling machinery and equipment

Works directly with the customer and CMST Supervisor to open and close work orders. Maintains work order packets ensuring that all documents are present and completed properly. Will be required to perform research in GCSS-Army to retrieve and compile data for use in required data calls and briefings.

Responsibilities

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Accurately inputs data and functionally operates in the GCSS-Army system.
  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials, parts, components and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities.
  • Verifies the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
  • Compiles and records production data from customer orders, work tickets, product specifications, and individual worker production sheets following prescribed procedures and using various word processing techniques.
  • Calculate such factors as types and quantities of items produced, materials used, amount of scrap, frequency of defects, and worker and department production rates.
  • Prepares production reports based on data compiled, tabulated and computed, following prescribed formats.
  • Compiles detailed production sheets or work tickets for use by production works as guides in assembly or manufacture of products.
  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives .


  • MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

    Safety shoes and other personal protection equipment, such as face mask, hard hat, vest, steel or composite toe shoes, gloves and eye wear may be required dependent upon assigned work area . Clerk will utilize a computer and copier daily.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Production Control Clerk functions in an office and shop environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition. Must be able to operate standard office equipment like a computer, copy machine and printer. Work will typically be in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. Employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Rarely will an employee be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days per week) Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

    May require lifting to 50 lbs. Must be able to function in office environment in a stationary position for extended periods of time.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Familiar with maintenance regulations; specifically, DA Pam 750-8, Functional User's Manual for The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).
  • Familiar with the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), SharePoint, and basic Adobe products is required .
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels.
  • Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.
  • Must have or able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copier, fax machine and printer.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle additional tasks as assigned.
  • Valid state driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre- employment drug screening.


  • EXPERIENCE:

    This position requires an operating basic knowledge of GCSS-Army. Position requires a general familiarity with computer input elements to perform functional activities such as data entry, data verification, transaction preparation and reprocessing of corrections. Possess the ability to understand SOPs, Work Instructions, Army Regulations, Technical Manuals and applicable Department of Defense forms. Exhibit ability to work independently or in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.

    SKILLS:

    Ability to deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Capability to work independently or in a team-based, highly collaborative environment. Apply telephonic etiquette when working with customers. Inputting data accurately is a paramount responsibility.
