Job Description

The Future Talent Program features internships that lasts up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Labs can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

The Data-Rich Experimentation (DRE) Group within the Small Molecule Process R&D Enabling Technologies department is seeking highly motivated and technically focused individuals who are looking for opportunity to positively impact our Company process development practices, while actively supporting drug development in the pharmaceutical space. The DRE group is tasked with identifying, developing, and deploying tools and methodologies aimed at improving the manner in which process understanding is gained through judicious implementation of technologies such as: Process modeling and simulation, high-throughput and bench-top automation, parallel processing, process analytical technologies (PAT), etc. Interest or expertise in any of the aforementioned technologies would be considered for this undergraduate or graduate-level internship. In addition, demonstrated skills in hardware/software integration and/or data sciences and data analytics are highly desirable.

As a member of the DRE Group, the incumbent is expected to carry out independent research which involves conceiving, designing, planning, and implementing advanced studies aimed at further establishing data-rich experimental methodologies. A high level of innovation, creativity, and self-initiative along with the ability to plan and execute technically sound experiments are expected. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills and exhibit a strength in delivering results on firm deadlines.

The intern will also attend departmental and team meetings to provide a wider perspective on process development in the pharmaceutical industry. Tours of pilot plants and development labs as well as a visit to a formulation facility may be integrated into the internship program to diversify exposure.

We are seeking intern candidates with strong academic performance, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a multi- functional environment.

Required Education and Experience:
  • ​ Candidates must be actively pursuing a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Candidates must be available for full-time employment for up to 12 weeks during the months ofMay - August 2021
  • Candidates must possess strong communication skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates should have strong technical/problem solving skills including grasp of chemical engineering fundamentals
  • Candidates should have a strong interest in process/technology development and scale-up
  • Candidates should established subject matter expertise in one or more of the following topical areas:
    • Process Modeling and Simulation,
    • High-throughput and Bench-top Automation,
    • Parallel processing,
    • PAT,
    • InSitu Analytics,
    • Data Sciences/ Data Analytics
  • Candidates should have a high level of innovation, creativity, and self-initiative along with the ability to plan and organize activities
