Armstrong Building Products (ABP), a division of Armstrong World Industries, is currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist II at our plant in Macon, GA. As EHS Specialist II, you will be responsible for providing environmental technical subject matter expertise (SME) and safety administrative support to the EHS Manager and plant team members.

What you'll be doing
  • Act as single point of contact as environmental SME for supervisors and floor employees
  • Produce technical reports required by local, state, and federal agencies and ensure reports are completed in a timely, accurate manner
  • Maintain collaborative relationship with corporate EHS staff and applicable regulatory agencies
  • Ensure environmental compliance requirements and safety management system implementation
  • Assist EHS Manager in updating safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Take ownership of key safety improvement efforts; may be individual efforts
  • Lead small teams on complex problems while meeting timelines
  • Maintain and update internal EH&S tracking systems
  • Participate in and support site safety committees and teams
  • Review all incident investigation reports and assist as needed
  • Order supplies needed for EH&S activities
  • Assist EHS Manager in updating safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Provide EHS support to site project work
  • Consistently maintain a safe working environment

What will make you successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related
  • 3+ years of EHS experience
  • Technical understanding of WWTP Operations, Title V Air permitting, Stormwater Permitting, Hazardous Waste, and Solid Waste requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations

Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 peopleworking on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers. Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space. It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.
