Senior Scientist - Analytical Research & Development Data Rich Measurements, Process Analytical Tech

Job Description

Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Our goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities and robust scientific methodology, we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

As a Senior Scientist in Analytical Research & Development (R&D), Data Rich Measurements, you will work with a highly collaborative team of Scientists in our Company's Process Research and Development primarily on small molecules but also across the drug development portfolio including biologics, vaccines, and emerging modalities. You will join a diverse team working to implement Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) for drug substance process development. The successful candidate must be able to collaborate in a dynamic, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment which covers bench to pilot scale and from early through late phase development. We leverage a broad range of tools (e.g., spectroscopic, chromatographic, and electrochemical) to influence route selection, enhance mechanistic understanding, assess scalability and robustness, and to identify and contribute to new technology research and data analyses related to PAT.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge in physical / synthetic organic chemistry and proficiency in one or more areas such as Process Analytical Technology (e.g., Raman / IR / UV-VIS / Fluorescence / NMR, MS), linear and non-linear spectroscopy, and chemometrics/MVDA/advanced analytics. Strong fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics and kinetics is desirable. Experience in mechanistic/kinetic studies of chemical reactions, continuous monitoring using process analytical tools, lab automation / informatics, parallel experimentation, or mathematical programming are considered a plus.Applicants must have effective organizational, multi-tasking, oral / written communications skills, show scientific leadership, and a desire to conduct research and publish. As a member of our team, you will be joining scientific problem solvers who are dedicated to creating the life-changing medicines of tomorrow.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Spectroscopy (e.g. Raman, Infrared, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, etc.).

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Chemometrics/ Multivariate data analysis.
  • Lab automation and technology hardware / software integration.
  • Programming experience (e.g., Python, R, Mathematica, Matlab, Labview, etc.).
  • Chromatography (e.g., Ion exchange, Reversed phase, Size Exclusion, Hydrophobic Interaction, etc.).
  • Reaction monitoring with NMR, MS, electrochemistry.

We are a research-driven biopharmaceutical company. Our mission is built on the simple premise that if we "follow the science" that great medicines can make a significant impact to our world. We believe that a research-driven enterprise dedicated to world-class science can succeed by inventing medicine and vaccine innovations that make a difference for patients across the globe.
