Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

The Electronics/Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (ETHME) Engineer Systems Test 3 is a demanding position that requires both in depth technical knowledge and experience in electronics and hull, mechanical and electrical systems and the ability to manage the ETHME test program for new construction carriers. EST3 will have technical knowledge and an understanding of requirements of the ETHME systems. Those systems include but not limited to: Machinery Control Monitoring, Alarm Systems (SF, FD, BZ, 1DL, 2DL, B&DL, DA, AE, 7AV, 4AV1, 4QV and 5QV), Lighting Systems (general ship, darken ship, NEALS and REBAL, hangar bay, searchlights, catwalk lighting and floodlights, flight deck and landing area, night flight and navigation and signal), Power (450VAC and 115VAC systems, frequency converters, power supplies, battery charging units), and Alignments, Inclination and Surveying. The EST3 will be responsible for the successful completion of ETHME test program leading up to delivery of the new construction carrier. The EST 3 should be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers including waterfront construction management, design engineering, test engineering, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, and Ship's Force. EST3 will be responsible for managing and executing the ETHME test index and schedule up to all key events; manage all external customers and interfaces and report overall status to supervisor. The EST3 will be responsible for overseeing and performing reviews on test issuance/completion status, making sure the Test Plan of the Day is updated, systems status and turnover and identifying and recommending the resolution of major system and programmatic issues as well as overall E25 contract performance (scheduling, budgeting and scoping). The EST3 must have knowledge of safety requirements and coordinate with functional supervisors, construction and Ship's Force to ensure that test program is conducted safely and is accomplished in accordance with Ship Yard and NAVSEA approved requirements and procedures.
