Altice USA is seeking an experienced attorney to provide legal support for the programming/content team by structuring, drafting and negotiating distribution agreements for a wide variety of content for multiple distribution platforms. Significant high-volume transactional experience with a top tier law firm and/or corporation and relevant content experience is required. Candidates must have proven drafting and negotiating abilities along with the organizational and multitasking skills necessary to manage multiple high-caliber deals with tight deadlines. In addition, candidates must be able to exhibit sound judgment and attention to detail, and possess excellent analytical and communication skills. Candidates must also be team players, as well as self-starters who can work independently and succeed in a highly dynamic and demanding environment.

  • Negotiate, draft and review programming and content acquisition and distribution agreements, working closely with Programming and Senior Vice President - Legal Programming.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to Programming and Product groups regarding, for example, the legal risks associated with a particular interpretation of an existing programming agreement or potential new products or services involving video programming.
  • Anticipate and identify issues and risks, and recommend potential solutions, for clients.
  • Identify trends in the law relating to programming matters and recommend potential responses.
  • Educate clients about, and supervise compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations as they apply to programming. These laws and rules include retransmission consent and must carry rules, network non-duplication/syndex, leased and PEG access, program carriage regulations, content regulations, compulsory copyright rules for local and distant broadcast signals, consumer notification requirements, online programming distribution, etc.
  • Provide advice on filings to government agencies to promote laws and regulations favorable to the Company, focusing on programming and content-related issues.
  • Advise and consult with Business Planning, Government Affairs and Product and outside counsel regarding various state and federal rate regulatory filing and administrative proceedings/filings.


  • JD degree, admission to a state bar
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience with commercial transaction experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, preferably including experience working on, and knowledge and familiarity with, content acquisition and distribution agreements.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills and strong ability to efficiently structure commercial transactions.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex business and legal issues (including relevant contract, IP and licensing issues) and problem solve.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work as part of a team and drive a large group process to conclusion.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to perform well under pressure while performing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to supervise others.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in cable regulatory and/or copyright issues a plus.
