Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an on-site Linux System Administrator with excellent hands on experience to support the Information Technology Operations Team which manages several unclassified and classified enclaves supporting the US NAVY customer. The primary duty of the position is Linux Administration, which includes the full life-cycle (installation, configuration, hardening, patching, tuning, upgrading and archiving). In addition, other duties will include:
- Implementing System Security Policies (DISA STIG's)
- Troubleshooting issues to restore operations
- Assist with COT's installations and tuning
- Vulnerability Scan and Remediation
- Basic network administration·
· Help Desk Support
- Software Evaluations

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret DoD Clearance
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience with Linux operating system (prefer RedHat Linux)
  • Experience hardening systems in accordance with DOD guidelines
    • Apply DISA STIG settings
    • Evaluate systems and software against DISA STIG settings (i.e. apache web server, MySQL server)
    • The ability to understand and remediate SCAP and ACAS findings
  • Proficient with Linux Native Security tools
    • Capable of installing, configuring, and operating AIDE across multiple machines
    • Capable of managing SELINUX and SELINUX policies across a wide software baseline
    • Understanding of Linux native firewall and system services
  • Experience with Linux scripting languages to automate tasks
    • Must be capable of developing and refining automation scripts for system management
    • Must be familiar with source control and CI/CD
    • Must be familiar with system automation tool Ansible
  • Must be capable of working in a small team using Agile methodology
  • Must be capable of working with engineering staff to diagnoses correct issues
  • Must be capable of planning and deploying complex toolsets on top of the Linux platform
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and supporting protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Basic knowledge of Virtualization (VMWARE Preferred)
  • Basic understanding of relational databases (Oracle and/or MySQL)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners and government officials
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) along with badge access to the customer's facility
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a network account in good standing on the customer's network.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for an IAM III as specified in the DoD 8570 within 6 months of start

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Docker
  • Degree in an IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Science or similar technical discipline is preferred, but will consider other degree disciplines with demonstrated proficiency through formal training/coursework or some related professional work experience
