Job Description

232,186. The current estimate for the number of human RNA transcripts. Do you want to discover ways to change RNA fate to treat diseases? Then you should consider joining our team. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to help advance the boundaries of disease-relevant RNA biology research. You will work at the intersection of RNA biology, data science, and transcriptomics technologies to investigate how genes are expressed and regulated at the RNA level and in the context of human disease. You will be co-mentored by a biologist and a computational scientist and will have support for both wet and dry lab activities along with access to NIBR’s entire arsenal of knowledge, technologies, and data. Postdoctoral scholars at NIBR have a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and are expected to publish their results in leading journals. The postdoctoral term is up to 4 years.

The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is the innovation engine of Novartis. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Embrace a collaborative and cross-disciplinary mentality that allows you to craft a high impact postdoctoral project in the field of RNA biology
- Propose biological hypotheses for post-transcriptional / translational gene regulation in the context of human disease
- Conceive of, and carry out, NGS experiments and accompanying analysis
- Collaborate with different functions throughout the organization to validate the results
- Effectively communicate your ideas and results to a diverse scientific audience, including wet lab and computational scientists
- Depending on the stage of the project, work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams
- Publish your results in scientific journals
