Job Description Summary

The Fleet Manager, Merchant Services will serve as the primary point of contact with specific critical merchant customers to resolve issues, strive for customer satisfaction, perform Field Service duties as needed, and drive merchant service growth. You will report to the Merchant Business Services Leader and manage North America (NAM) service merchant work items while working with the GE sales team to find new business in the merchant market.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Fleet Manager, Merchant Services you will:

  • Work closely with Inquiry to Order (ITO) team to identify new business opportunities with merchant customers, develop Proposals, and win orders.
  • Assume a vessel's fleet, co-responsible for the development of control entry associated with the dedicated commercial people.
  • Understand the customer's organization, assets, and installed base.
  • Manage, develop, and lead customer facing initiatives to deliver the best possible customer service.
  • Support Project Management Team in the execution of Order to Remittance (OTR) merchant service projects.
  • Log and track service issues, visit assets to troubleshoot, or support major upgrades, as required.
  • Support one-OTR process with project management team.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders (Engineering, Parts, Services, Projects) to drive the right actions and provide prompt resolution to customer issues.
  • Work with customer personnel (Operations, Engineering, Training, and Purchasing) to resolve product issues, maximize availability of plants, and maximize purchased services provided by GE.
  • Translate customer needs / requirements into detailed plans, driving internal execution to meet the targets.
  • Manage internal issues through Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Services to provide prompt quality service to customers.
  • Record product issues and provide feedback to Engineering and Quality.
  • Identify ongoing problems and common faults across similar products.
  • Assure that warranty and service obligations are met, including; timely delivery, quality, compliance with contract scope, and expected profitability of the service order.
  • Perform field service engineering duties as needed, and train other FSEs on GE's scope of supply.
  • Manage the LTSA contracts (Long term service Agreement) with our key customers and maintenance planification of GE equipment during dry-docks or wet-docks.
  • Analyze risks, establish contingency plans, and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigation action.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Marine experience utilizing Power Conversion Products.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time


Desired Characteristics
  • Fluency in English.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA Preferred.
  • Background in a customer facing Service Delivery or Project Management position, within a Service environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge of one or more power conversion products (automation, variable frequency drives, power).
  • Ability to establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients.
  • Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to make decisions with regards to completion of tasks and job methods and follow through with results of outcome.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop clear message using MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Ability to interact and communicate with internal customers (Internal customers may include; Sales, Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Management personnel).
  • Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals.
  • Ability to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.


The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $135,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
