As a senior member of the QBE North America Analytics team, this role leads efforts in providing business analytical services, including developing new insights and understanding of business performance based on data and statistical methods. The incumbent will assist the analytics leadership team in enabling our businesses to achieve our NA priorities, collaborate globally across QBE and infuse our operation with innovative practices through enhanced analytical capabilities and technical expertise.
Primary Responsibilities

• Drive the development and deployment of models and analytical solutions relying on external and internal data and a combination of practical and state of the art model development methods

• Forge strong partnerships appropriate business groups to identify scope and analytic modeling needs, and to champion adoption of enterprise-wide solutions and services

• Provide solid analytics-based business intelligence to key internal stakeholders to guide and influence business decision making

• Effective collaboration with other data and analytics function as part of overseeing analytics projects and activities to ensure business needs are met and sustained

• Develop new insights and understanding of business performance through development of solutions to key strategic business problems relying on state-of-the-art modeling and analysis methods

• Leverage expertise and experience to maximize value of analytics investments by analyzing external market dynamics and other data sources to assess trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to management

• Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience
8+ years relevant experience

• Effective verbal and written communication skills to present and articulate complex analytical solutions to influence and persuade decision makers and key stakeholders

• Experienced in planning, prioritizing, and organizing analytical initiatives with multiple partners and stakeholders

• Proven ability to understand the needs and goals of a customer and actively offering analytical solutions to meet them

• Demonstrated skills in adapting precedent and making significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions

• Monitor short and long term impact of contributions and ensure accuracy and adherence to long term goals

• Manage and prioritize competing responsibilities concurrently and effectively

• Manage projects across different teams

• Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects

• Influence; ability to get work done though others who are not direct reports

• Demonstrated practice of keeping current with new and emerging tools and technologies relevant to the line of work

Preferred Education
Master's Degree

Preferred Experience

• Increasing levels of experience in analytical leadership and consulting roles with insurance or other financial services firms

• Direct experience building analytics capabilities and business intelligence functions and platforms

• Experience working in a complex matrix environments

Preferred Knowledge

• Deep knowledge of statistical /data mining methods and successful business applications

• Track record of implementing analytical recommendations and models that deliver significant sustained business impact

• Insurance processes and procedures, industry trends, standards and best practices

• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, R, Python or similar programing language

• Strong working knowledge of information technology

• Working knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting business and organization; knows how the business works

• Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources

General office jobs: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is not substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer.
