Wholesale Credit Risk Subject Matter Expert - Cost To Achieve (12-Month Temporary Redeployment Assig

This is a Temporary Redeployment Assignment with an approximate duration of 12 months. Priority consideration will be given to employees impacted by a notice of redundancy. GCB 4 level employees are preferred.

Streamlining Credit for the Customer Regional Roles.

This role is within the Streamlining Credit for the Customer workstream which is part of the Risk2025 Programme. Risk 2025 is a global transformation Programme that will deliver the long term vision for the Risk Function, migrating it to leading practices and capabilities whilst improving its efficiency and effectiveness."

Role Specification:
  • In collaboration with the Global and other Regional Wholesale Credit Risk teams, contribute to the design and lead the Regional delivery of the Streamlining Credit for the Customer initiative.
  • project management and business analysis skills
  • Credit Risk experience to include wholesale lending and Approver knowledge across Business Banking, Mid Market, Large Corporates or Global Banking essential
  • Knowledge and experience of HSBC approval and lending systems, practices and processes preferred
  • Experience of end to end change management in a Business Analysis, Project Manager or Programme Manager capacity preferred
  • Experience of gathering requirements, understanding dependencies, managing stakeholders or implementing regulatory change in a credit risk environment preferred
  • Understanding or application of agile ways of working including BizDevOps with technology preferred
  • Wholesale credit risk lending technology change experience preferred

Role Context
  • Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements)
  • The jobholder is responsible for developing and implementing Credit Risk Policies, Procedures and Standards.
  • The jobholder is jointly responsible for identification and management of operational risk arising in the Credit Process.
  • Observance of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
  • The jobholder maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Jobholder is an "insider" for dealing purposes and subject to strict controls and confidentiality requirements.


Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

  • Experience in a Wholesale Credit Risk and/or a Wholesale Business function.
  • Familiar with existing wholesale credit approval processes and systems and/or with wholesale credit risk appetite and portfolio management activities.
  • Strongly change oriented and passionate about designing and implementing innovative transformation activities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an ability to drive complex projects involving multiple stakeholders at local, regional and global level.
  • Ability to influence and drive engagement from a wide range of stakeholders, mobilize SMEs and work collaboratively.
  • Understand and take into account local market and regulatory specificities and constraints.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and negotiating skills.
