Job Description

Join the Clean Energy Revolution

Become a Senior Relay Protection Engineer at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be part of a team responsible for a range of Generation's business functions including condition assessment, equipment reliability, asset optimization, plant engineering, performance reporting, and work management. You will lead or partner with external consultants in performing assignments and making decisions associated with electrical and protection systems relative to the generating assets within Generation, which would include: Mountainview gas fired combined cycle facility, gas fired simple cycle Peakers, Big Creek Hydro, Small Hydro, Battery Energy Storage and Catalina generation. You will work closely with plant personnel, engineers, and project teams to perform technical assessments and make recommendations. You will be tasked to deliver high quality (accurate, reliable, and complete) results. As a Senior Relay Protection Engineer, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Assess and resolve accurate protection devices and settings for various (e.g. hydro, gas and solar) generation assets.
  • Conduct protection failure analysis and make technical recommendations to mitigate the situation.
  • Develop relay protection test plans for field technicians.
  • Collaborate with various internal authorities and stakeholders to ensure Generation's relay protection system is aligned with other organizations.
  • Craft and maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

The essentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
