Responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate actual financial reporting and analysis. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.

Job Description

The Assistant Controller demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. The Assistant Controller will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but not limited too:
  • Translate specific financial-guidelines (GE, GAAP, stat., etc.) into practical business solutions
  • Ensure all expenses paid & recorded in ERP system, ensuring compliance within SOPs and business/company policies.
  • Participate in regular balance sheet reviews and variance analyses
  • Provide reporting for Corporate/Business requests
  • Participate in controllership initiatives and internal and external audit projects
  • Implementation of Controllership tools and processes
  • Implementation of Business/Company policies
  • Identify potential risks & opportunities & and communicate effectively
  • Interpret finance risks & opportunities to local circumstances & present workable solutions
  • Oversight of financial ERP and accounting systems
  • Oversight of international financial reporting and international compliance
  • Supervisor for billing and project controls team
  • Provide oversight for Treasury control processes
  • Support Monthly account reconciliation's and quarterly Controllership reviews
  • Lead monthly closing process; oversee key accounting and controllership processes
  • Identify opportunity areas where special analysis may help improve financial decisions
  • Assist leadership in meeting all financial commitments and goals
  • Contribute to and drive sustainable process improvements, with responsibility to develop and maintain an effective control environment
  • Oversee process and maintain policy to assure compliance with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and provide assurance over risk of improper payments in the region
  • Provide financial expertise and counsel to clients and team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or other business related field
  • Minimum 5 years of Professional Accounting or Finance with solid experience in the finance field

Desired Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master's of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Experience working in a global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
  • Big 4 experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
  • Clear thinking/problem solving: successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
  • Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
  • Confidence/Assertiveness: strong influencing skills
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
