In this job, you lead teams in the cause analysis involving primarily safety incidents (e.g. injuries, fatalities) to identify cause and corrective actions. You will play key role inspiring change within Southern California Edison (SCE) utility landscape and be exposed to a diverse range of safety incidents and involve yourself in activities at hydro plants, electrical generation, Transmission & Distribution of power and construction/maintenance events. You will be a bridge between safety and our management, represented employees and contractors throughout SCE's vast territory,

  • Work with organizations such as Transmission, Distribution, Generation, Customer Service, Claims, Legal, I.T., and other General Organizational Units.
  • Work with senior leadership regarding trends, evaluations, and actions to prevent recurrence
  • Provide mentorship and development to others in the systematic process for performing cause analysis.
  • Lead teams through a systematic process to identify causes and appropriate corrective actions. You will also lead many interviews.
  • We want you to collaborate with organizational unit personnel to identify and implement long-term solutions to issues identified during the evaluation to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure the evaluation report is completed and issued timely and with quality.
  • Present briefings and represent Edison Safety on cause evaluations.
  • You will review work and provide feedback to our teams in cause evaluation work.
  • Periodically, provides classroom training or on-the-job mentoring to others concerning cause analysis.
  • Support benchmarking and peer group requests, such as the North American Transmission Forum and Edison Electric Institute.
Qualifications

The essentials
  • Seven years of experience in investigations and/or cause evaluations (e.g. Cause Analysis).
  • Experience communicating and interacting effectively with personnel involved in incidents or related matters.

The preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Psychology, Law or related field, or equivalent related work experience.
  • Experience managing and/or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Certified Safety Profession Certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Excellent verbal and report writing skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor others in cause analysis.
