Head of Neuropsychiatry, US Medical

Job Description

TheHead of Neuropsychiatry (NP) will provide overall leadership and direction for the US Medical team across neuropsychiatry, including Major Depressive Disorders (MDD) and Post-partum depression (PPD). This leader will be accountable for the leadership of both the Medical Directors and Field Medical Teams in NP. This will include providing strategic direction to the Medical Directors, Field Director, and Medical Science Liaisonsas well as ensuring adaptation and execution ofmedical plans/contributing to the development of medical strategies of both MDD, PPD and future areas of development in NP.

As a key member of the US Medical Leadership team, this leader will report directly to the Head of US Medical. They will work closely with Commercial leaders for NP, US Market Access, Medical Value Strategy & Execution and Global NP Therapeutic Area teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the development and implementation of US Medical strategy for Biogen’s NP programs. Contribute to overall strategy development in close collaboration with Global Therapeutic Area Head, Global Medical team representatives and cross-functional global / US business partners.
  • Represent the US and Field Medical team perspective in NP at various leadership venues. Serve as the primary point of contact on the leadership level between the commercial and medical organization and leads the ongoing evolution of the medical and commercial collaboration model in the spirit of “One Biogen”.
  • Take a customer-centric, metrics based and data-driven approach to setting measurable goals and ensuring teams successfully execute the US medical strategy.
  • Be fully accountable for the performance of the US NP Field Medical team. Create a positive climate within the team in alignment with Biogen’s culture. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Assesses and coaches, individuals, ensuring that individual development plans are in place and will be executed as appropriate with support from the Field Medical Excellence team.
  • Provide strategic and medical oversight of US NP medical activities and content development. Oversee and manage US NP Medical budget.


Who You Are

You enjoy leading teams and collaborating cross-functionally. You are accomplished in setting and communicating strategy as well as communicating a clear vision for tactical execution.

Required Skills
  • Minimum of master’s level degree is required in a scientific / clinical discipline. Advanced scientific or clinical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) is preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of Medical Affairs experience including 5+ years of experience managing a team of field-based employees.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in joint company partnerships.

Preferred Skills
  • Medical Launch experience desired
  • Neuropsychiatry and /or Psychiatry disease strongly preferred
