Job Description

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years' experience OR Master's degree and 0 years' experience OR PDP apprentice certificate and 1 year of engineering experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

A BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Mechanical Engineering and/or professional registration is beneficial. Candidate should have a strong knowledge of electrical engineering in supporting the design and planning of US Navy Submarines. The successful applicant should have experience with research, design, project management, and overall general problem solving related to the design and planning of shipboard systems. Applicants should have experience with system integration and be proficient in electrical simulation software.
Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in groups with minimal oversight from management.
