Audio Embedded Systems Engineer

Summary

The Facebook Reality Labs Audio Advanced Technologies Team is looking for a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer who has strong acoustic signal processing experience and software/firmware programming skills. The ideal engineer employs the deep understanding of theoretical and practical signal processing to solve problems around wind noise suppression, pick up sensors, and algorithms refinement at system level.

Required Skills

  • Support acoustic data collection efforts using microphone arrays and pick up sensors on HATS and human participants.
  • Engage with cross functional teams and external vendors and lead large acoustic data collection for various applications including traditional DSP, ML and system validation.
  • Develop tools and GUIs in MATLAB and Python to acquire and process large data and apply statistical calculations.
  • Develop concepts, methods and algorithms to solve unique problems around wind noise detection/suppression, activity detectors and speech enhancement for smart glasses form factors.
  • Perform algorithms validation tests of prototypes in simulations as well as in real-time embedded systems in real world environments.
  • Support in-house audio SW tools development activities including automatic measurements & tuning tools and speaker protection tuning tools.
  • Collaborate and align with the TED Audio Algo team to ensure no overlap of R&R's by having a strong focus on NTI exploration and front end engineering (research).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DSP and ML engineers) by providing FW supports, algorithm porting support including Speech Codec, Speech Enhancement, Echo Cancellation, Noise Reduction, Speaker Recognition, Speaker Protection, Dynamic Range Compression and Neural Network algorithms.


Minimum Qualification

  • 10+ years of experience in audio signal processing.
  • Design, implementation, research and project leading skills.
  • Experience in Audio Signal Processing (Speech Codec, Speech Enhancement, Echo Cancellation, Noise Reduction, Speaker Recognition, Speaker Protection, Dynamic Range Compression and Neural Network algorithms).
  • Understanding of physical acoustics and digital signal processing.
  • Experience with a variety of acoustic test equipment such as RME, Audio Precision, etc.


Preferred Qualification

  • Familiarity with machine/deep learning.
  • Familiarity with Python, TensorFlow, and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with Audio Weaver, Max/MSP or similar DSP platforms.
  • Familiarity with various Platform and Operating Systems (TI's C54xx, C55xx, C3x and C6xxx, DSP/BIOS, AD's ADSP2147x and BF50x, On Semi's Ezairo 5900/7100, Cirrus' ADSP2, XMOS xCORE, ARM, AVR processor, VxWorks, Windows, iOS, Linus, Unix).
