We are recruiting a number of senior engineering roles across a range of disciplines; systems engineering (Cloud), software engineers and site reliability engineering. As Sr. Director, Platform Engineering (DevOps) you will lead a multi-discipline cross functional engineering pod aligned to a set of product scrums. You will be responsible for delivering a DevSecOps capability in a platform-centric enterprise. The role has a deep cloud-platform engineering focus and is accountable for providing a world class, enterprise ready competitively differentiating infrastructure technologies across IaaS and PaaS architypes. You will lead a team with a truly global reach providing engineering capability to every part of the consumer technology organisation. You will be familiar with all the technology in their scope of control and your hands-on capability will ensure that you can lead from a position of technical authority. DevSecOps, SDLC and Automation tools and techniques will be second nature to you along with a deep understanding of IaaS and PaaS cloud patterns and system architectures. You will adopt edge-of-curve levels of automation and expect to deliver direct business value at high frequency. You will naturally & seamlessly partner with infrastructure, security and product teams to maximise the value delivered by the engineering products & services delivered within your scope. Oversees design and implementation of processes, practices and tools enabling CI/CD, maximising the speed and quality of software and system delivery and minimising unit costs across digital platforms Manages build automation, release, deployment, and configuration activities of the DevOps platform; setting appropriate milestones & KPIs and working within an Agile framework Partners with relevant Technology leadership stakeholders (e.g. Squad Leads, Chapter Leads) to create and maintain a roadmap and project schedule, setting both short- and long-term goals and ensuring delivery against technical roadmap while delivering regular updates to stakeholders Works closely with technical staff (including Software Engineers, QA, Site Reliability Engineers, Systems Engineers) to understand requirements and prototype, architect, implement, operate and update DevOps solutions accordingly Manages tool and vendor selection across development automation activities to ensure that tooling is fit for purpose for an enterprise-grade software deployment automation & DevOps platform Owns, leads and drives systems engineering, software delivery automation and CI/CD practices across all digital platforms Ensures availability, scalability, maintainability, performance, and monitoring of systems for operations Drives efficient self-service, incl. automation of provisioning and maintaining CI/CD environments, integration/QA testing, security & configuration Evangelises DevOps/Platform Engineering across the organisation and provides leadership to the technical community supporting with best practice, recruitment, development and other community activities Facilitates interactions between DevOps/Platform team and wider technical organisation to develop best practice and encourage knowledge- & tool-sharing Follows industry trends and developments to better meet wider business & IT goals and ensure that the DevOps platform ecosystem is at the cutting edge of enterprise-grade software development automation systems Contributes to specifications and standards designs, codes complex software and enforces guidelines on patterns and frameworks Chapter Leadership - manage resource demand, ensure spectrum of technical talent from early career-to-senior, ensure a mixed profile of ‘T' shaped engineers which together cover required set of technical disciplines. Mentor/Coach teammates at lower levels. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science or related field 10+ years of programming and / or platform & systems engineering. DevOps platform management experience 5+ years of managing technical teams with a strong track record of change and run responsibilities. Technical Deep expertise of IaaS and PaaS cloud pattens and system architectures Expertise with programming languages (e.g. Java, PHP), database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and release & configuration management tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet) Experience with scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Bash Python) in cloud environments with a focus on IaaS, PaaS in Azure and GCP. Deep understanding of modern DevOps platform technologies (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, ADO, GitHub Actions) incl. infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) and containers (e.g. Kubernetes, AKS) Experience with code quality and code security tools (i.e.: SonarQube, Blackduck) Experience with Atlassian suite Extensive experience with agile methodologies Extensive experience working in a cloud native environment (Azure and GCP desirable) Business Strong business, leadership and communication skills as well as sufficient experience to understand: what is possible given current technology, how trends will affect the business in the future Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional projects; capable of producing results within unstructured and dynamic environments Team Strong leadership capabilities, having the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse set of customers or partners Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong and effective cross-functional relationships Effective team management and supports others to grow and develop Seen as an expert within the organization, even for colleagues outside of engineering.
