BAE Systems Manassas, VA location is in search of a Program Manager to support the Space line of business for the Electronic Solutions sector. The typical scope this position will manage will consist of design/development, procurement, manufacturing, and delivery of Space qualified computers. Known as an industry leader for its suite of radiation hardened products, BAE Systems Manassas, VA leverages decades of expertise to build a robust Space product line. BAE Systems Space products can be found present on almost all of commercial, civil and national security space missions for the past 20 years; including GPS, weather monitoring, satellite TV and radio, exploring the universe; most notably the Mars rovers and Missions to Protect Those Who Protect Us. From semiconductor components to ASICS to Circuit Card Assemblies and Sub-Systems, our products are ubiquitous throughout Earth's orbit and beyond.
We currently have an opening for a Program Manager II in the Space Systems business area. The role provides an opportunity within the Space Systems Business Area's Program management function. Based in Manassas, VA and reporting to the Single Board Computers Program Director, this position is a great opportunity for an employee interested in program management. As a Program Manager II, this individual shall:
  • Have demonstrated proven Program Management skills
  • Be familiar with Space quality manufacturing and test
  • Represent BAE Systems as the primary customer interface
  • Be highly motivated to work the front end of the business capture process prior to RFP
  • Have a hardware technical background and be able to interact with internal and customer engineers
  • Lead the execution of a portfolio of projects including hardware development and production programs
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to emerging program managers and team members
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Business Development and Engineering to identify new business opportunities and execution strategies for Space Systems Product Lines
  • Collaborate with Operations to understand and resolve procurement and manufacturing issues
  • Make strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure that opportunities receive the necessary support from the functional organizations to achieve program objectives
  • Ensure effective utilization of New Business resources within the business area to achieve technical and competitive advantages in the marketplace

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical/engineering field of study and 10+ years of applicable work experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • 10+ years of applicable experience with BS in a technical field of study
  • 8+ years of applicable experience with MS in a technical field of study
  • PMP Certification
  • Space hardware design, procurement, or manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a FAR/DFAR environment
