Head of Healthcare Product Execution

Job Summary

Healthcare costs continue to rise at an unsustainable rate. Care is fragmented and the consumer is forgotten, leading to poor access, variable quality, greater disease burden, and high costs. To address these needs, Walgreens Boots Alliance, under the Healthcare Technology Venture Unity (H3), is developing new healthcare products and services aimed to put the user at the center and dramatically improve outcomes while lowering costs.

As the Product Execution Lead, you will help shape the future of our product, lead execution strategy, and ensure effective delivery and implementation of our products. You will lead a team of exceptional scrum masters, product support managers, and product implementation managers and work closely with product management, engineering, UX, market and clinical operations, legal, finance, marketing, sales, and other cross functional teams to orchestrate and deliver our omnichannel products.

As a senior leader within the H3 team, you will be a player-coach: building, managing, and motivating a diverse and best-in-class team to execute against our ambitious goals. You will be part of a groundbreaking new healthcare business that endeavors to transform the manner in which care is delivered to consumers.

This role reports directly to the Chief Product and Experience Officer for Horizon 3 and will have direct contact with executive stakeholders (C-Suite), internal stakeholders, and external partners around new products and services being developed to drive down medical costs and improve patient outcomes through an improved patient experience. This role will have a high degree of independence to design, implement, and drive forward large-scale organizational-change programs and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops an overarching short- and long-term product execution strategy, roadmap, and timeline for execution that is in line with the vision and growth aspiration of the company
  • Sets financial, operational and quality objectives for the Product Execution team and develops master operational plans. Plans, develops and manages departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • Provides leadership for major strategic decisions in partnership with senior management. Works across appropriate businesses, support divisions, and internal/external partnerships to ensure that resources and objectives are aligned to deliver results.
  • Leads in a manner that is consistent with company culture and values
  • Ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Leads the scrum master organization
  • Leads product support for partners ensuring a top-notch level of support and service as well as an active feedback loop with new product development
  • Leads the product implementation team focused on implementing new product deliveries with new customers and ensuring seamless integration
  • Collaborates with engineering and product stakeholders in an ever-changing environment to establish roadmaps and timelines, anticipates and manages risks, and resolves technical or operational challenges along the way
  • Responsible for following and promoting agile methodology and all related scrum ceremonies within an agile team. Enables team to work as effectively as possible.
  • Collaborates in cross-functional discussions and decisions on product prioritization and feasibility
  • Ensures impediments are resolved and the team meets sprint objectives and releases stay on track. Coaches the team to own and continuously improve their process and practices.
  • Ensures effective collaboration and coordination through the development cycle
  • Ensures teams have clear goals, leadership, decision point
  • Assesses and tracks success/outcomes from new product development efforts
  • Manages the release and sprint timelines, follows up on key action items
  • Assesses the scrum team's velocity for the upcoming sprint and tracks the sprint health. Plans and coordinates test environment setup and production installs
  • Exercises technical and product judgment to scope projects, identify dependencies, manage multi-quarter road maps and timelines, and define and implement processes to accelerate and scale feature development - all without sacrificing quality.
  • Performs ongoing assessment of product development processes and recommend enhancement opportunities
  • Establishes metrics to measure effectiveness and drive improvement
  • Defines sustainable processes to intelligently assess, collate and communicate customer need
  • Communicates highly complex information with ease to internal and external partners
  • Develops and mentors new team members through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years' experience of leading scrum teams or product delivery in technology, retail and/or healthcare industry, directly or through consulting engagements OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years' experience of product management in technology, retail and/or healthcare industry, directly or through consulting engagements
  • Experience working closely with the entire engineering and research teams, UX, program management, marketing, business development and strategy teams.
  • Experience thinking out of the box and developing new Omni-channel (physical and digital) experiences
  • Experience in a consumer technology or healthcare industry with strong focus in Omni-channel
  • Experience using analytical skills to build competitive analysis, product strategy, business models
  • Experience delivering digital and / or physical (clinical service based) healthcare products at scale
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial business decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or higher degree in advanced mathematic / computational degree
  • Scrum Master Certification
