WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Global Security Director will be in charge of Investigations & Brand Protection Operations, responsible for leading two Business Security Teams assigned to specific Abbott businesses and managing the respective operational areas your team members are assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be accountable for your teams providing effective security solutions and risk mitigation plans related to protecting Abbott's products, facilities, intellectual property, and people.

You and your staff will work with corporate, regional, and global Abbott Businesses to conduct and operationalize security related matters involving the following global security operational areas: Investigations, Brand Protection, Business Risk analytics/reporting, Ecommerce Enforcement, Insider/Outsider Threat, Physical Security, Product Integrity, Supply Chain Security and Technical Security/Countermeasures (Experience and/or understanding of the multiple above-mentioned disciplines is critical to position success). You will do so by partnering across multiple different functional, geographic, and divisional areas including by not limited to; Legal, HR, Risk Management, Business Leadership, Operations and Cyber/IT members. Additionally, the Director will need to partner within Abbott's Global Security Organization working with individuals from Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Executive Protection, Operations Center, Security Systems, Special Events to ensure rapid and thorough responses to security threats are addressed.

This position reports the Senior Director of Investigations & Brand Protection Operations and will assist the Senior Director with developing a broad variety of proactive security solutions to protect Abbott and its Brand as well as routinely assisting with security briefings to the Divisional Vice President of Global Security and other Corporate Officers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position will provide leadership and support for the strategy and execution of the Global Security initiatives.
  • Manage a Global Product Protection Security Team to optimize the effectiveness and efficiencies of day-to-day activities.
  • Lead and Manage a team's performance, direction, hiring, retention, training/development.
  • Guide investigations and global case management related to counterfeiting, diversion, product tampering, theft, and threats.
  • Provide regular case evaluations including monetary value and cost avoidance results.
  • Foster global collaboration around intelligence so that Abbott can identify potential counterfeit/diversion situations before they are apparent to the local markets.
  • Educate Abbott Businesses on various security threats and mitigation strategies for matters such as: product counterfeiting/diversion, physical security, insider/outsider threats, fraud schemes, business email compromise, phishing & social engineering tactics, situational safety awareness,
  • Deploy critical thinking skillsets to establish new concepts and solutions to enhance Investigative and Brand Protection strategies to proactively combat various security threats.
  • Guide and lead virtual and in-person physical security audits to mitigate risks.
  • Build key relationships both internally and externally.
  • Remain current with emerging security trends, threats, and subsequent mitigation options.


CORE JOB DUTIES:
  • Engage with the Security leadership and Business leaders as a "Trusted advisor" to develop a clear vision on short and long-term security strategies that best align to the Business stakeholder security needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert regarding security threats and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies to facilitate the protection of Abbott people, operations, and assets.
  • Assist the Global Security Senior Director with effectively leading/managing various operational programs such as: ( Brand Protection, Business Risk analytics/reporting, Ecommerce Enforcement, Insider/Outsider Threat, Investigations, Physical Security, Product Integrity, Supply Chain Security and Technical Security/Countermeasures ).**
  • As needed, assist other Global Security functions with Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Executive Protection, Operations Center, Security Systems, Special Events.
  • Dynamically engage Abbott businesses and external partners enabling the real-time exchange of critical security information to protect Abbott.
  • Strengthen private and public partnerships to best safeguard personnel, assets, facilities, and intellectual property.
  • Liaise with appropriate law enforcement, intelligence, and threat detection entities to identify, quantify, and assess security threats to products or facilities.
  • Provide proactive advice and actions on suitable mitigation measures to protect the Abbott Brand.
  • Produce program and project level dashboards, scorecards, reporting and metrics to monitor progress & performance.
  • Experience with managing and forecasting a budget.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 14+ years of experience in a corporate and or government security environment with progressively more responsible roles.
  • Minimum 4+ years of managerial experience.
  • Possess a strong Investigative and Brand Protection background.
  • Experience and understanding in the following Corporate "Global" Security Operational functions:
  • Investigations, Brand Protection, Business Risk analytics/reporting, Ecommerce Enforcement, Insider Threat, Physical Security, Product Integrity, Supply Chain Security and Technical Security Countermeasures
  • Experience interfacing/ influencing senior business leaders, staff, contractors, and other security professionals across multiple functions and teams to build strong relationships.
  • Experience working in a large, diverse, and complex organization.
  • Ability to understand and translate business strategy into relevant, value added Security actions/ initiatives.
  • Experience leading, planning, and implementing security related projects and or programs.
  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to define, collect, analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make fact-based decisions.
  • Must be able to develop/nurture concepts into pragmatic, efficient and effective solutions.
  • Must be self-directed and able to handle large, simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence effectively within a multi-national, multicultural, setting.
  • Strong change management experience in a global enterprise.


WORK SHIFT: Standard; and Irregular work hours to handle emergency security incidents. Normally works regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment. • Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on-call support by cell phone.

• Required-Willingness to travel both domestically or internationally. The frequency and duration are determined by security needs.
