Our location in Lake County, IL currently has an opportunity for a Product Designer to join our NAVICA program. Seeking experienced designer with exceptional design, creativity and visual design production.This team values great design experiences and prioritizes design thinking across every single thing we build at Abbott. This role will help the candidate to progress in her/his career through practicing hands on design at scale for global markets, access to world class DesOps and Experience toolchain and ownership of creating seamless user experience. This is a hybrid design role with strong focus on production design.


This role helps creates user experience designs and mockups that will mimic the actual user interaction with a digital site. Talent will be involved in the overall strategy and operations of Digital Technology Service experience office and should be comfortable with consumer research, psychology and the latest in UX best practices which serves as the backbone of a UX-related project roll out.

  • Work as part of product team to drive design aspect of production from ideation to delivery and post-delivery support
  • Work across the design lifecycle following the user-centered design workflow that comprises: design, prototyping, presentation, sharing and soliciting feedback, influencing key decision-makers, and collaborative handoffs with developers.
  • Leverage design and research methodologies, for running quantitative and qualitative research, such as usability testing, analysis, interviews, and field studies.
  • Leverage user research, design thinking, and best UX practices to visually design simple solutions to complex internal platforms and partnership software
  • Responsible for creating wireframes, UI for mobile apps and web platforms

Key tasks
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and owners to understand the goals and objectives of the user, and tactfully assure that the best outcomes benefit the users
  • Lead design thinking workshop with stakeholders during the ideation phase
  • Identify requirements, use cases, and user journeys in partnership with Product and Engineering
  • Ensure design methodology, process, workflows and plan project for UX design while evolving the process iteratively with learnings.
  • Conduct research to identify user needs and goals and create validated persona
  • Use heuristic and qualitative testing techniques to create UX plans in overall project, research, evaluate, contract, onboard, brief and manage UX agencies, conduct testing, analyze results, and write findings
  • Conceptualize and design user experiences from early prototypes to high-fidelity mockups
  • Creating impactful and engaging experiences while demonstrating mastery of design skills such as information architecture, visual hierarchy, layout, typography and palette development
  • Support developers through the launch process and solution for problems that may arise during the execution of the product's design
  • Create products that are intuitive and useful
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to define features, contribute to the overall direction of the product and to ensure a high-quality implementation and user experience
  • Ensure all UX and design toolchain and are within Abbott enterprise ecosystem


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Design, Human Factors or related field/ Master's Degree- preferred
  • Experience working on Mobile app (iOS/Android App) and Responsive web platform.
  • Working knowledge of design tools and product development platforms: Sketch, Figma, Abstract, Invision, JIRA, or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Have a portfolio of work that shows your passion for simple, intuitive, and beautiful product experiences
  • 5+ years of digital design experience

  • Experience in working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment

  • Experience with helping set product strategy through methods like design sprints, quarterly or yearly planning, and team brainstorms

    Problem Solver - You have ability to solve problems with creative thinking and design while making the experience seamless
  • Strong Communicator. You convey information clearly and simply, in a way that means things are understood and get done, as comfortable with sociology as they are with statistics
  • Attention to Detail. You are willing to dive deep into customer pain points to root cause issues while empowering your team to make daily decisions
  • Skills in areas not limited to UX and interaction design, User Research, Website & Product Strategy, Mobile app design, Persona Creation, Journey Mapping, Usability Testing, Prototyping, Design tools
