Civil Drainage Engineer I - Transportation Infrastructure - Louisville, Kentucky

Opportunity :

Our Parsons Louisville, Kentucky office is now hiring for an experienced Civil Drainage Engineer to support our road & highway infrastructure practice for the region. You will perform a variety of engineering and drainage design tasks, inclusive of culvert designs by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses within our civil engineering roadway division. Our Engineers at this level have solid basic experience and an increasing proficiency in the utilization of engineering theories, practices, and procedures. Typical project assignments are large in scope and challenging and varied. This work will require experience and utilization of Microstation and various iterations of the HEC-RAS calculation and analysis software . This position can be hired at a more experienced level as well.

Responsibilities :

In this role, you will complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing Microstation and/or HEC-RAS as applicable. This position focuses on drainage and culvert design, layouts, calculation, preparation of drainage reports and preparation of Erosion/Sedimentation Control Plans on roadway design projects.

Preparation of standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs is a typical aspect of this role, as well as preparing detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

You will also review segments and portions of larger supplier drawing submittals and assist in performing technical bid analyses, as well as prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction related documents.

You will often be asked to provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

Requirements :

A 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and at least 3 years of related work experience are required.

An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is essential . PE highly desirable for more experienced candidates.

Skills & Competencies :

Working knowledge of CAD (MicroStation Open Roads/Inroads and Autocad ) and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
