Staff Research Associate I

Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking
to hire a full-time Staff Research Associate I to join UCLA's Integrated
Substance Abuse Program and The Greater Southern California Node of the Clinical
Trials Network. Research populations will consist of: substance abusers,
criminal offenders, incarcerated individuals, mentally ill individuals, and
state-and-county level administrators in the field of behavioral/public health
and criminal justice. Primary duties include:
  • Provide logistic support for project activities
  • Locate and recruit prospective research participants
  • Assist with participant screening and coding interview and other data
  • Collect and enter data from program records and other sources
  • Create and maintain databases
  • Other administrative tasks to support research team

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (preferred)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends (required)
  • Reliable source of transportation to conduct field interviews (required)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants interviewed (required)
  • Ability to question participants about sensitive behavioral issues, including drug use and criminal behavior, and frequency of high-risk sex behaviors (required)
  • Skill in speaking and writing to persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds (required)
  • Ability to review, recall, and assess survey and interview forms for completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency (required.)
  • Experience in data collection and interviewing (required)
  • Demonstrated high-level of professionalism and Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required (Required)
