Partners with businesses to realize quick wins and shape a multi-year roadmap for accelerated growth & efficiency leveraging data, analytics and AI. Supports the definition of the accelerated data strategy for groups within BMO, including planning & executing accelerator workshops with business stakeholders, researching leading examples, identifying the top new acceleration opportunities, estimating cost and benefit by way of building business cases and managing change and communications. Acts as the integration point for triaging business requests and managing demand for data support as part of a multi-year roadmap.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group.
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives.
  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Partners with business teams, Advanced Analytics, Data Scientists and Enterprise Architecture teams drawing upon technical and data processing knowledge to deign and engineer solutions.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment.
  • Performs data processes intake/demand and prioritization process, issue management process, and monitors processes.
  • Analyzes information and metrics for trends in adoption, identify issues and report findings to senior leaders.
  • Develops expertise and promotes data preparation, data science and visualization tools, maintain/enhance training materials and contributes to/leads formal training sessions.
  • Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels.
  • Guides adoption of self-service analytics tools by providing user training, early adoption support (e.g. pilots and proof of concepts in businesses functions) for all capabilities.
  • Facilitates collaborative sessions with partners applying design thinking methods to engage stakeholders and generate key outcomes.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to triage risks and issues related to Data, Analytics and AI.
  • Identifies quick wins and shapes a multi-year data strategy roadmap for the designated business/group.
  • Manages the intake process to prioritize projects and mobilize the appropriate Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for execution
  • Develops the business case by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Identifies scorecard development and growth forecasts as part of value engineering.
  • Supports the creation of information products with the business/group to deliver results.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Develops and/or reviews estimates for project schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience.
  • Works in coordination with the business to deliver on identified use cases and requests.
  • Measures and monitors progress to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure relevance of data governance actions and processes.
  • Develops and initiates use-case and acceleration initiatives.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to resolve data quality issues.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis environments (e.g. R, MATLAB, SPSS or SAS)
  • Skilled in working with BI tools such as Tableau and Microstrategy, relational databases and Hadoop-based data mining frameworks
  • Knowledge in working with SQL, Python, Java and C/C++.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
