Senior Packaging Production Engineer


Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a senior level Packaging Production Engineer for its York, Pennsylvania site in support of Combat Mission Systems. In this role, the Packaging Production Engineer performs packaging engineering analyses to design and document packaging solutions in compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements. Provides packaging support in production (PSIP) of complex vehicle systems through coordination and communication with manufacturing, materials handling, and supply chain. Develops and reviews packaging design concepts for production lines and/or industrial equipment using CAD or specialty software; develops and checks packaging engineering drawings; schedules and monitors the build of the pilot and prototype; and validates the design. Provides engineering and process support to the spares packaging department in the form of packaging work instructions, floor support, and technical guidance. Assists and provides technical guidance to packaging operators or other technical personnel. May assign tasks and manage technical activities or corrective actions for assigned projects. Develops, writes, and reviews proposals including proposal management as required for packaging engineering and manufacturing packaging efforts. Ensures packaging, handling, storage, and transportability (PHS&T) principles are integrated into the design of complex vehicle systems. Provides Packaging Engineering support to other Combat Vehicles facilities as required.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in an engineering or technical discipline and four (4) years of relevant experience; or a combination of the overall equivalent with military logistics or Packaging Engineering experience.
  • Knowledgeable in Packaging Engineering principles and practices.
  • Understanding of military standards.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Packaging Engineering related software systems.
  • Ability to identify, define, interpret, and resolve engineering problems involving conflicting design/contractual/policy or technical requirements across functional areas and with difficult coordination requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and support delivery to customers, industry leaders, and senior management.
  • Able to support at the manufacturing York, PA site.



Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred but not required background:
  • Degree specifically in Packaging Engineering.
  • Packaging Engineering experience with relevant applications in a defense, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  • Some knowledge in material sciences (corrosion/corrosion prevention) military packaging theories, operations, specifications.
  • Parametric and non-parametric analysis.
  • Material/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP).
  • Logistic support activities and applicable military standards/specifications.
  • DOD contract interpretation and material acquisition cycle.
  • Industrial, electrical, and/or mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong technical knowledge of relevant military, industrial, and commercial design standards.
  • Ability to lead and develop Packaging Engineering staff.
  • Presentation skills.
