Research Assistant I (Part-time) - Pediatrics

HJF is seeking a Research Assistant I (Part-Time) to support the Department of Pediatrics located at theWalter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the Pediatric Department. This position will be 25 hours per week during the standard business day. U.S Citizenship is required.

Performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Solves less complex problems in carrying out research projects in a clinical environment. Assists research team with the consent of research subjects, completion, organization and submission of research related regulatory documents, and data collection/retrieval. Willing to work with pediatric and adolescent subjects and their families.

Responsibilities:
  1. Performs research projects, including the collection and organization of data from medical records and other sources. Follows instructions and standard operating procedures. (40%)
  2. Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Maintains clear and accurate data collection records and inventories in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices. (20%)
  3. Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols. Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments. (20%)
  4. Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data. (10%)
  5. Assists in the recruitment consent and assent process of pediatric and adolescent research subjects. (10%)
  6. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles of high quality data collection and organization utilizing a database, ability to follow detailed instructions, good communication, strong organization and analytical thinking skills.

Minimum Education: Bachelors degree is required.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum of 0-2 years of work experience is required.

Background/Security: U.S. citizenship required; eligible to obtain and maintain a Tier III Investigation/Secret Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
