Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring an experienced Project Controls, Junior with a desire to work on creating innovative and practical solutions in support of the United States Special Operations Command (USASOC).

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Performs financial/administrative reporting for contracts and/or programs.
  • Responsible for accurately forecasting the cost of future projects.
  • Develops the cost information needed to make a bid for a contract or to determine if a proposed new product will be profitable.
  • Compiles and analyzes data on all factors that can influence costs-such as materials, labor, location, and special equipment requirements, including computer hardware and software.
  • Gathers information on access to the site and availability of electricity, and other services, as well as on surface topography and drainage.
  • Determines the quantity of materials and labor the firm will need to furnish.
  • This process, called the quantity survey or 'takeoff,' involves completing standard estimating forms, filling in dimensions, number of units, and other information. Estimates the costs of all items a sub-contractor must provide.
  • Must make decisions concerning equipment needs, sequence of operations, crew size, and physical constraints at the site.
  • Allowances for the waste of materials, inclement weather, shipping delays, and other factors that may increase costs also must be incorporated in the estimate.
  • On completion of the quantity surveys, prepares a cost summary for the entire project, including the costs of labor, equipment, materials, subcontracts, overhead, taxes, insurance, markup, and any other costs that may affect the project.
  • Estimates costs or tracks actual costs relative to bid specifications as the project develops.
  • Requires the use of computers for complex mathematical calculations and requires advanced mathematical techniques.
  • Operations research, production control, cost, and price analysts who work for government agencies may do significant amounts of cost estimating in the course of their regular duties.
  • Considered an emerging authority, who applies extensive technical expertise.
  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity.
  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 2 - 4years of experience, or a Master's with 0-2 years of experience.
