Associate, Investment Banking Coverage - Industrials

Upon resumption of normal operations, this role may be performed at our New York, New York office.

We offer financial and advisory solutions that support critical strategic events in a company's evolution (e.g. acquisitions, divestitures, Joint-Ventures or IPO) and / or where our clients wish to raise funds from investors in the capital or loan markets to support their operations and fund growth (e.g. a bond issuance or secondary equity raise). Our clients are both traditional industrial corporates and financial sponsors (e.g. private equity and sovereign wealth funds).

The role requires high level multi-tasking capabilities, project management experience and a sharp attention to detail. As a critical conduit to clients, the Associate must exhibit professional demeanor and exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

An Associate on the team will be assigned to a variety of projects and is given a broad range of responsibilities, some of which include:
  • Creating client marketing presentations
  • Being familiar with valuation of companies, including but not limited creating model projections, using trading and transaction comparables, discounted cash flow or LBO analysis
  • Attending and presenting during client meetings
  • Assisting in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships
  • Conducting industry and company-specific due diligence
  • Drafting marketing memoranda for sell-side assignments; developing equity story or credit story depending on securities raised. Notion of credit rating analysis implications
  • Creating marketing materials for our internal equity or credit sales organizations
  • Analyzing a companies' capital structure and leading due diligence
  • Preparing and defending credit applications for event-driven financings
  • Developing an understanding of the underlying trends that affect the industries we cover (including Multi industrials, Heavy Equipment, Electrical, Water equipment, Flow control, Automation, Commercial Aerospace, Connectors & Sensors & Components, among others)
  • Developing investment ideas for private equity clients
  • Establishing and maintaining networks for co-operation with other HSBC businesses, to support the creation of solutions to client needs that span geographical/product boundaries and regulatory environments
  • Contributing to the building of a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture
  • Training and managing onshore and offshore analysts, including teaching them the investment banking valuation and modeling techniques referenced above
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles.


Qualifications

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

  • At least 3 years of experience in Investment Banking or a related field, with a particular focus on industrial companies
  • A strong work ethic, detail orientation and a passion for excellence
  • Knowledge of general accounting and finance principles
  • The ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings
  • A working knowledge of Microft Word, Excel and Powerpoint programs
  • The position will require the person to take Series 7, 63 and 79 from FINRA
