About Boost Converter & Controller Solutions (BCS):

BCS designs complex boost, buck, buck-boost, and charge-pump semiconductor ICs used in a wide range of switching power supply topologies targeting the automotive, industrial, and personal electronics markets.

About the Job:
  • Define overall silicon bench validation and characterization plans, software, hardware, and execution schedules prior to arrival of silicon.
  • Develop and debug automated test routines using LabView and TestStand to facilitate data collection to assure margin within devices.
  • Use deep knowledge of bench equipment to be able to capture and analyze high-quality measurements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams as well as TI partners and customers to produce and review comprehensive validation plans.
  • Anticipate risks from definition to ramp and adapt to support additional validation requests that arise during the debug and ramp-up phases with minimal or no impact to on-going milestones.
  • Use schematic capture tools in order to define high-performance validation boards for use in an automated bench testing environment.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout for power devices.
  • Utilize data analysis and formatting tools to parse large amounts of automated data and convert into reportable documentation (Starfish, Spotfire, Excel, ...)
  • Communicate issues observed during validation and test conditions so that device issues can be replicated in simulation.
  • Identify and propose solutions to root causes of issues iwth the IC designer.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Design level knowledge of common power topologies such as boost, buck, and buck-boost.
  • Understand system usage of power topologies to incorporate stress scenarios that will identify potential device marginalities.
  • Experience scripting and designing lab automation systems using LabView, TestStand, and Python coding environments.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments PXI platform.
  • Experience with schematic capture, board design, and PCB layout as well as simulating circuits within a SPICE environment using Simplis/SIMetrix.
  • Familiarity with release of AEC-Q100 automotive qualified devices.
  • Understand, duplicate, and propose solutions for problems reported by customers.
  • Timely internal communication to core team of status, results, bugs, etc.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions, cultural, and geographic locations.
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.
  • Strong time management skills that facilitate on-time project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships.
  • Good listener and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
