You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within United States as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Act as product subject matter expert
  • Define product features needed for new capabilities, and draw on an agile mindset: implement the minimal thing that that possible work, and rapidly iterate and evolve it based on user and market feedback
  • Lead discussions with development teams to identify and support core competencies and key features and functions - seeking to drive value from core frameworks
  • Work with BAs and Business POs to guide them in writing user stories and acceptance test criteria for features and detailed functional & nonfunctional requirements for the engineering and development teams
  • Prioritize all product features to ensure work focuses on those with maximum business value that align with product strategy
  • Participate in requirements definition, testing, training, implementation, and rollout
  • Manage application product roadmap and ensure strategic alignment with greater vision
  • Track features and user stories for individual products or apps assigned
  • Support various engineering and project management functions by acting as a liaison between business, product, and development teams to help reduce redundant efforts, increase reuse of existing components, and identify opportunities during design to ensure components are built in such a way as to support external marketability
  • Understand key business objectives and strategy of the product, and support the Product team in meeting business objectives, KPIs, MBOs and financial targets
  • Contribute to outbound product marketing and collateral development, including feature and product capability descriptions, technical specifications and "glossy brochures", technical user and business value stories, client case studies, and the like
  • Effectively looks 'up and out' to influence multi-portfolio capabilities and their dependencies; enables on-time delivery via manageable features/stories coordinated across teams
  • Influences and aligns portfolio backlogs across the organization to support broad initiatives and client needs
  • Ensures high-level roadmap alignment across portfolios where required
  • Guides leadership-level alignment across organization
  • Effectively presents product opportunities in senior leadership discussions / funding decisions
  • Appropriately challenges or champions emerging trends in the Optum Product community
  • Appropriately champions emerging trends in the Clinical Interoperability community
  • Influences org and org behaviors through leading training / education, wiki pages, blogs, or product management presentations.
  • Effectively influences multiple portfolios, contributes to Optum Tech level decisions
  • Positively influence outcomes of complex capabilities across multiple portfolios

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of product ownership, technical product management, business analysis, or product team leadership within a large matrix organization
  • Experience leading product management leveraging latest HL7 FHIR standards
  • Experience leading product development in an Agile environment
  • Understanding of EHR/EMR workflows and systems
  • Knowledge and experience in healthcare ecosystem, specifically payer and provider industries
  • Able to lead translating customer needs into product design documentation including features, product capabilities and market requirements
  • Ability to perform product demonstrations internally and externally
  • Demonstrated understanding of Business Intelligence, business analytics, clinical data delivery and acquisition, or some combination of data and technical platforms
  • Familiar with HIPAA and Privacy rules especially in relationship to payers domain

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant agile certifications such as scrum product owner or scrum master
  • Product delivery experience in health care, data interoperability, digital, or big data
  • Understanding of HL7 v2 and v3 (CCD-A and CCD-A Templates) space
  • Active engagement with healthcare industry clinical interoperability events (HL7 workgroups, HIMSS interoperability show cases)
  • Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to innovate with delivery teams
  • Solid communication skills to build relationships across teams from around the world
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Lifelong learning and continuous improvement methods
  • Proven organizational skills with customer empathy and ability to work with ambiguity and changing priorities

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
