As part of the Information Solutions Group within Underwriting & Pricing, our mission is to provide the technical tools, subject matter expertise, and user support needed for underwriters and actuaries to accurately and efficiently produce appropriate health care rates and supporting exhibits for our small and large group clients. Specifically, this position supports development efforts to consolidate key ASO rating tools, supports enterprise data migration efforts, and will play an important role in long - range Underwriting Transformation projects. The position requires an understanding of the underwriting and data needs of the business, technology alternatives, and relevant development and programming experience. The individual will play a leading role, working with business partners, to develop and implement long - term rating system solutions. In addition, more immediate, short - term enhancements to existing systems will also be developed and implemented by this position. Manual and labor - intensive processes required today to use the tools need to be replaced with more robust and automated models. The qualified candidate should have a solid background in MS Access, Excel, and VB coding, and experience in the conversion or redesign of complex Access databases to SQL - based systems having front - end interfaces and backend reporting capabilities. Experience with Optum Stepwise programming is a plus. Mathematical aptitude with a general knowledge in health care and rate methodologies are highly preferred.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of Development / Programming experience
  • Expertise working with MS Access, MS Excel, VB coding
  • Basic level of proficiency with SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Ability to communicate complex information

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
